Gameplay overhaul in Den of Mysteries 2.0

Now live, Axie: Den of Mysteries 2.0 reshapes how players tackle its dungeons. Built by Onchain Heroes, the update retires the original’s dated systems in favor of a design that leans on accessibility and replayability.

A new entry structure

The rebuilt Den runs as a turn-based roguelike spread over ten floors, ending in a showdown with final boss Kilnbane. Neither Axies nor minting are required to play — a Ronin Wallet is all that stands between a player and a run. Keys now cost $1 apiece instead of $2, and stacking several of them is a deliberate tactic for pushing rewards higher.

Earning opportunities and rewards

Runs hand out Treasure that feeds a weekly prize pool, but they also pay out on the spot via Blessings and can drop exclusive items such as the Throne and the Stella skin. How the weekly pool is split depends on how much Treasure a player has banked, and burning through more Keys translates directly into more loot.

Competitive incentives

More than $6,000 in prizes is attached to the launch event, with $5,000 of that set aside for the leaderboard pool. Clearing enemies on the opening floors earns Shards, which feed leaderboard standings. Beating Kilnbane yields raffle tickets instead, and those tickets act as entries for prizes announced on a bi-weekly basis.

Points boost for quests

A recent Bounty Board revision has made quests considerably more lucrative. Task completion points went up at every tier, giving players an easier path up the leaderboard and extra bAXS beyond whatever the weekly prize distributions send their way.

Gameplay mechanics

A single run takes roughly 10-15 minutes, built around short bursts of play. Killing enemies levels characters up and boosts their stats, while Talents or Items picked up along the way support the climb. Every tier, from the rewards on offer to the encounters themselves, has been tuned with player engagement in mind.

“This release not only revitalizes the gameplay experience but lowers barriers for entry,” a representative said. With updates set to keep arriving, the reworked dungeon is positioned to hold players’ attention over the long run.
