About Crypto Kitties
What is CryptoKitties?
Built on Ethereum, CryptoKitties is a game centered on collecting and breeding digital cats. Launched by Dapper Labs in 2017, the platform reports over 2 million kitties and more than 400,000 players, and is noted as a breakthrough consumer collectible. Genetics determine each Kitty's appearance, with parent Kitties transmitting traits to their offspring.

How to play
Players acquire Kitties through the marketplace or by breeding. To breed, a player pairs two of their own Kitties or one of theirs with a public sire from another player. Offspring generation is determined by the higher parent generation plus one—so two Gen 3 Kitties produce a Gen 4, and breeding same-generation pairs is suggested in the official guide. Kitty owners may list a Kitty for siring (allowing others to breed with it) or for sale via auction, where they set starting and ending prices plus duration. Players can also submit ETH offers on any Kitty, whether listed or not, and the owner may accept or decline; offers remain valid for three days.
Platforms and costs
The game runs in a web browser on its official site, with purchases finalized through a Dapper transaction window. Each transaction incurs Ethereum network gas fees, the sole cost noted in the official guide. New Kitty acquisitions may require several minutes to display on a player's profile, contingent on network congestion.
