What is Etherscape?
Etherscape (styled The Etherscape) is a multiplayer online rogue-lite action RPG developed by Sam Bayless on the Enjin Blockchain. The game is free-to-play, available through the Epic Games Store, and supports Windows, macOS, and Android. Rather than using blockchain as a paywall, its crypto layer enables item ownership—no gas fees or transaction costs apply to gameplay.
How to play Etherscape
Players embody an Etherborn, a soul that persists across multiple lifetimes in different bodies. Each death is final—unbound items vanish and your soul respawns in a fresh body with a chosen class. Classes vary by abilities, stats, and equipment compatibility; some unlock from the start while others require specific NFT items to access. Procedural generation affects loot, maps, dungeons, and quests, ensuring variety across runs. Core design focuses on perma-death stakes, randomized loot that reshapes your playstyle, horizontal progression, and integrated multiplayer that encourages cooperation. High-difficulty zones yield superior rewards, making them worthwhile gambles for your gear.
Etherscape tokenomics & earning
Players mint item NFTs through gameplay, not purchases from the studio. The Etherforge crafting station transforms Rare, Epic, or Legendary items into Etherbound items using rare in-game resources and Enjin Coin proportional to rarity; the output mints to the player's Enjin Wallet and becomes tradable on NFT.io. Artifacts represent the rarest items, always Etherbound, with on-chain supply caps. Equipped Etherbound items dodge death but enter a level-based cooldown when you fall, clearable with gems from the Underworld Dealer. The Imperial Sovereign, a governance token, accrues through quests and play at a one-token, one-vote ratio, and a portion of in-game revenue funds a shared pool for weekly player payouts.
