Hellmaster is a free-to-play strategy card game from Dante Games that merges tactical deck construction with RPG mechanics in a setting inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. Select from a roster of mythological heroes and venture through Hell's nine circles using spells, equipment, and card combinations in tactical combat.
Gameplay and Features
Hellmaster combines the card-game mechanics of collecting and playing cards with the structure of a tactical RPG. You start by picking a hero and outfitting them with spells, gear, pets, and other items that shape their stats. Matches are turn-based and focus on making strong card combinations, much like poker, while commanding hero abilities, launching spells, and battling demons that manifest on the field.
The hero system forms the cornerstone of gameplay. There are 15 different mythological heroes to pick from, each tied to a class and possessing a unique ability. Your hero's class dictates the spells and runes you can use as you level. Upon reaching level 3, a hero gains access to a personal spellbook that holds up to eight spells. You acquire these spells by leveling up or earning them from seasonal events and quests.
Heroes can be outfitted with an array of gear, including weapons, armor, familiars, trinkets, and blessings from deities. These equipment pieces influence core metrics like damage, defense, speed, vitality, and morale. During a battle, you blend card play with active hero commands. A match concludes when you claim all of the opposing player's gems or reduce their hero's health to zero.
Game Modes:
- Adventure: PvE gameplay focused on leveling heroes, discovering content, and battling across the nine circles of Hell.
- Battle Arena: PvP competition where you compete for Souls, the key resource gained through play. Entry costs Souls, which connect to the $DANTE token.
- Hellmaster Arena: Weekly competitive tournament with larger payouts. Requires Keys to enter, which you can earn or acquire.
- Training: AI opponent mode for testing loadouts without risk.
NFTs and Blockchain
Hellmaster incorporates Web3 features through the Dante Games ecosystem, and participation is optional. Those who want to engage with the play-to-earn mechanics can buy, own, and trade NFT versions of heroes, pets, spells, and gear.
The $DANTE token handles purchasing Souls (used for arena modes), staking for special tournament entry, and buying NFT collections. A balanced economy model backs in-game rewards with safeguards against inflation and price speculation. Players earn shards to exchange for NFT packs or tournament keys, and can sell assets through the Dante Games marketplace or Immutable.
