About RuneHero

RuneHero is a multiplayer action RPG set in Herud, a realm defined by rune magic. The project describes it as a Master-to-Earn game, emphasizing that player talent outweighs character stats. Combat unfolds in real-time. The official site showcases three heroes, Morakus, Reks and Aelia, each featuring distinct combat styles, ability sets, talents and progression tracks.

How to play

Heroes are developed through combining abilities, talents, items and magical effects. Dungeons are procedurally varied player-versus-environment zones filled with creatures and bosses that yield equipment and resources, and gathering Runes strengthens hero powers. The Arena focuses on player-versus-player competition with point awards and seasonal tiers. Outland is a challenging area blending creatures and other players, where gathered resources become permanent only after extraction. Crafting, production, a player-run trading system and groups provide additional depth in a game structured around seasons with their own rankings and prize pools.

Where it stands

RuneHero has not launched to the public yet. According to its FAQ, the team is focused on polishing the experience, with a second closed beta phase (CBT2) approaching but no release window confirmed. PC is the planned first platform, with potential mobile support under review. The game requires no entry fee or NFTs, though players may create supported NFTs from collected materials, and holding xRune tokens confers bonus benefits. Seasons begin with a foundation prize pool from the studio, with all season revenue from purchases added to it. As of October 2025, the game integrates fully with the Sei blockchain.

RuneHero is a web3 multiplayer action role-playing title situated in Herud, built around rune-based magical systems. In execution it functions as a dungeon raid title more than a trading marketplace: select a hero archetype, complete dungeon runs and fight bosses, and find Runes that restructure an ability system rather than merely accumulating numbers. Multiple character archetypes cover high-damage output, constant damage dealing, and defensive specialists, with an alternative magic-and-healing cross-class introduced during testing phases.

Most original is Outland, a fight-and-harvest area where you battle creatures and gather rare Aetherite while player foes hunt you, and loot stays loot only if you make it out with it. That exit tension, combined with ranked combat arenas, player associations, and team battles, gives the experience framework separate from token rewards.

Unclear elements include chain and cash structure. The project began on Immutable, then grew into the Sei ecosystem, and from the second testing phase onward Arcane Crystal assets became mandatory to access dungeons and keep winnings—a cost preceding a curious participant and real gameplay. Still in testing phase, so the current state remains provisional.

For action role-playing fans valuing extraction mechanics who acknowledge a continuing, asset-required limited release.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start playing RuneHero?

Navigate to runehero.io and sign up for the active test period — the current season does not need access authorization. An earlier limited access test (CBT1, May 4–18 2025) did require a special code or xRune ownership.

Do I need a crypto wallet or an NFT to play?

You can participate without having any NFT, but you will link a wallet to claim on-chain payouts, as the staff looks at your character's gear at season wrap and sends matching on-chain items to your wallet. An xRune Genesis NFT is optional but delivers advantages such as priority access to features, more bag room, and lower marketplace fees.

What is the in-game token and how do players earn?

The primary earning token is $Soul, and every reward-producing action costs Energy, which regulates the reward pace. Players get 1,000 Energy daily with refresh, while holding an Arcane Crystal NFT adds +300 Energy per rotation (stack up to 5) and Dust restocks one outfitted crystal daily for an additional +700.

Are there other ways to make money in RuneHero?

Specialized roles let you gather, make, and deal goods through focused vocations and peddle the results on the participant-run bazaar. Earlier seasons have featured prize pools — the May test put up a $20K base fund plus 60% of all deposits, split among top Arena competitors.

Is RuneHero still active and worth playing right now?

The project continues actively: Season 0 is underway as a head-start release ahead of a second closed test phase, which grants players a costless Battle Pass upgrade, and the group plans to bring in Sei ecosystem connectivity. Remember these are trial phases with save resets, so early test progress vanishes when testing concludes.
