Starting Aug. 27, your Sims can suit up for a day at North Shore High or Bronson Alcott. EA and Paramount Pictures have partnered to bring Mean Girls and Clueless into The Sims 4 — not as one sprawling expansion, but as two standalone kits.
Next Thursday. Two movies. Two kits.
What you’re actually getting
Create-a-Sim carries most of the weight in both kits, which tracks for a crossover built around two of the most screenshotted wardrobes teen cinema has produced. A pair of Build Mode items round things out.
EA’s blog post pegs each kit at $3.99, below the usual kit price. What EA hasn’t shared is how many items either kit contains — and that’s the number worth holding out for. A cheap kit with a thin catalog isn’t really a deal.
The comments section is not in a shopping mood
Plenty of Simmers were glad to see the outfits announced. Plenty more had no interest in celebrating anything EA does at the moment.
The wound from the company's buyout by Saudi Arabia and private equity is still fresh, and the post announcing the reveal trailer became a referendum on whether Sims 4 DLC deserves anyone’s money at all.
“Last year I would have bought…this year, I don’t purchase from Saudi Arabia. You no longer deserve my hard-earned money,” one user commented, adding the hashtag “#BoycottEA”.

Why this particular franchise feels the friction
Another user was blunter about it: “Women in skirts? That’s not very Saudi Arabia of you.”
Few series did more to pioneer LGBTQ+ content in gaming than The Sims, and for years it served as a safe space for queer players. The Sims Team has previously stated that the buyout wouldn’t affect The Sims 4. Still, the values baked into the game and those of its new owners don’t sit neatly together, and the player base has picked up on it.
That mismatch has driven a portion of players away from the game. The persistent bugs haven’t done the franchise any favors either.
Which leaves the Aug. 27 offer as this: $3.99 for a piece of 1995 and a piece of 2004, sold by a company many of its own players have decided they’re finished funding.
