On Wednesday, STEPN revealed two Sneaker designs tied to Marathon Season 3. Players earn them by meeting the season’s daily Energy requirement.
The first design is the Marathon Sneaker. STEPN described it as “A total of 50 candlelit designs for our Season Pass holders who complete the Round Energy requirement.”

The second design is the Marathon Genesis Sneaker. STEPN’s only description of it was “With its chandelier.” At the time of publication, the announcement text did not fully describe the Genesis design or say how players would get it.
How the Energy requirement works
The Round Energy requirement changes with the stake tier. To join a reward pool, players lock 50, 100 or 200 USD, and must then spend two, four or six Energy each day. They can spend that Energy in STEPN or in STEPN GO (official site), and they can join more than one tier.
A round runs for 14 days, and a single missed day knocks a player out. That player loses their stake for the round and has to register again to come back.
Players who make it through all 14 days get their full stake back and share whatever the eliminated players in their pool lost. Unless they opt out, they are entered into the next round automatically.
New in Season 3 is insurance that covers one missed day. Players have to buy it before a round begins.
The Season Pass
The Season 3 Season Pass costs 20 USD. It is bought once, covers the entire season, and includes exclusive avatars, extra name changes, premium identity features and VIP status.
Owning the pass does not make the challenge any easier. Holders must still complete all 14 days of every round.
How many Genesis Sneakers exist
A Genesis Sneaker’s ID starts with “G” followed by a number between 1 and 20,000. STEPN and STEPN GO share one Genesis pool, which is capped at 20,000.
This is not the first time the Marathon has given out Genesis Sneakers. Season 1 began on Oct. 27, 2025. During its closing STEPNathon event, players who ran a 42 km marathon or a 21 km half marathon earned a LEGEND badge, an exclusive background and a raffle entry for Genesis Sneakers with limited skins. The Season Pass rewards that season also included raffle mints for Marathon Sneakers, Genesis ones among them.
Season 3 timeline
Season 3 has six 14-day rounds, about 12 weeks in total. Registration opened on Aug. 3 at 10 a.m. UTC and closed on Aug. 10 at noon UTC.
Round 1 ran from Aug. 10 through Aug. 24. Round 2 started on Aug. 24 and ran until Sept. 7, and everyone who finished Round 1 was moved into it automatically.
Season 3 also brought improved team features, custom avatars and Marathon names, updated profiles, season-long leaderboards and clearer challenge tracking.
STEPN began its announcement with one line: “A little reward for those who go the distance.”
