GPT-6 lands in ChatGPT for all users, Free tier included, but not every plan gets the same model

GPT-6 is arriving in ChatGPT, and OpenAI is making it available on every tier, the Free plan included. Free users and paying subscribers won’t be getting the same version of GPT-6, though, and if you’re deciding whether your subscription still earns its keep, you should understand that difference first.

Raw intelligence isn’t the headline change here. The bigger shift is in how answers are presented. GPT-6 comes with a feature OpenAI calls Intelligent UI, which, according to the company, lets the model deliver responses quickly with fully interactive user interfaces built directly into the chat.

Your answers may come with buttons now

OpenAI trained GPT-6 to handle everyday conversations better and to assemble more visual responses within the chatbot itself. A reply might contain graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts and other interactive elements, depending on the question.

The example OpenAI gives is a dinner party. If you ask ChatGPT to help you plan one, its response could feature an interactive table that works out how much of each ingredient you need to buy, based on how many guests you say are attending. It might also include checklists and follow-up forms that you complete to get more detailed help.

None of this is meant to be pushed on you, either. When plain text is the better fit for a question, OpenAI said GPT-6 can choose to leave the visuals out altogether. That judgment is what’s worth keeping an eye on. A chatbot that answers every simple question with a dashboard would wear thin quickly.

It starts answering before it’s done thinking

The quieter change could end up mattering more in daily use. Reasoning models usually lock in their output before showing you anything, which is why complicated requests can leave you watching a loading indicator.

GPT-6 can now respond while it’s still thinking. OpenAI trained the model to spread its answer across multiple messages, each one contributing useful information so that the finished result works as a coherent whole. The aim is to cut wait times on complex tasks. The obvious unanswered question is whether those staggered messages will feel coherent or fragmented in practice.

Calculators, bill splitters and Snake

According to OpenAI, the interactive responses could help make complicated subjects easier to grasp through visual aids. The feature can also be used to create small tools for particular needs, such as a calculator to help you weigh investments or work out how to split a bill.

You can also, yes, use it to recreate retro games like Snake inside ChatGPT. It makes for a fun demo, but the bill splitter is the stronger argument for everyday use.

“Instead of fitting every question into the same conversational format, ChatGPT can combine UI, data, and actions to create entirely new ways for people to explore, understand, and interact with information,” OpenAI said.

Sol for subscribers, Luna for everyone else

There is a catch. The worldwide rollout of GPT-6 with Intelligent UI has already started for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users, and those plans run on GPT-6 Sol.

Free accounts and the low-cost Go plan are expected to gain access at some point today. Those tiers will use GPT-6 Luna, which OpenAI said is less capable than Sol.

That means “GPT-6 for everyone” comes with an asterisk. If you’re on Free or Go, test the interactive features on something practical, such as the dinner party planner or the bill splitter, before deciding you need to upgrade. If Luna covers what you use ChatGPT for, Sol may be a premium you don’t need to pay.
