Picture Lucia on a Vice City dance floor. When she dances hard, she sweats more, and when she only sways, she sweats less. Someone at Rockstar Games wrote the code that makes this work.
It’s the newest detail to come out of GTA 6’s development, and it’s very much the kind of thing Rockstar is known for. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier says the studio built a separate scripted system with a single task: deciding how much its characters sweat, depending on what they’re doing and how hard they’re doing it.
Where the detail comes from
Nobody leaked or datamined this one. Schreier went to Rockstar North and spoke with developers about how the game is being built. He talked about the sweat system in a video that came out alongside his longer report.
His examples are simple. If Lucia dances hard in a nightclub, she sweats more than if she dances casually. When Jason works out, the sweat on his body goes up or down with how intense the exercise is.
The effect also doesn’t just switch on at random. Based on Schreier’s account, Rockstar tied sweat to each character’s different activities so their reactions would look more natural.
The question still unanswered
One thing remains unclear: nobody has said whether the system is purely cosmetic or whether it will affect gameplay at all. For now, it’s safest to treat it as something you’ll only notice if you look for it, and most players probably won’t.
It does line up with earlier reports about the game. Players will reportedly be able to train Jason and Lucia and change their physiques, a more advanced version of the body system from GTA: San Andreas. If your characters are hitting the gym, it makes sense that they’d come out drenched.
Rockstar went out to Miami’s clubs as well
Getting Vice City right took legwork. Rockstar did extensive research in the real Miami. Developers visited different parts of the city, watched how locals go about their day, and studied details as small as nightclub lighting so the game would feel as convincing as possible.
That helps explain why GTA 6 has taken so long to build. Any studio can put a club in a game. Rockstar sent people to see how the light hits the dance floor, then made sure Lucia’s sweat matches how hard she’s dancing under it.
GTA 6 is currently scheduled to release Nov. 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Once it’s out, someone will spend 20 minutes on a Vice City dance floor just to see how damp Lucia gets.
