Medieval Empires, the web3-based strategy game set in the 13th century, has officially launched on the Epic Games Store, making its historical gameplay and blockchain features available to a much broader audience.
The announcement was made by Co-founder and Chief Visionary Officer Assad Dar, who highlighted this release as a major step toward mainstream adoption of web3 gaming.
A Major Platform Milestone
The arrival on the Epic Games Store places Medieval Empires in front of nearly 300 million PC users, offering a unique blend of empire-building, historical combat, and optional blockchain elements. The game is already live for Windows and macOS, with mobile versions currently in beta testing for iOS and Android.
According to Dar, this is not just about distribution. It’s a step toward simplifying access to blockchain gaming and helping new audiences discover digital ownership in a fun, intuitive format.
Gameplay Rooted in History and Strategy
Set in the late 1200s, Medieval Empires follows the story of Ertuğrul Gazi, a historical leader of the Kayi Turkic Tribe. Actor Engin Altan Düzyatan brings the character to life, creating a cinematic experience that complements the strategic gameplay.
Players are tasked with building and expanding towns, training armies, and defending territories. Early in the game, the English Crusaders act as an opposing force, led by Edward Longshanks. Future expansions will include other historical factions like the Mongols and Byzantines, adding variety to gameplay and strategy.
Web3 Integration and Optional Blockchain Features
One of Medieval Empires’ standout features is its “play and own” model. While the game includes NFTs and tokens, these are not mandatory. Players can enjoy the full experience without touching crypto, or they can choose to own land, upgrade heroes, and stake the $MEE token for additional rewards.
The game supports blockchain functionality through Immutable zkEVM and Polygon, with onboarding simplified by the Immutable Passport system. Players can log in using social accounts, removing the usual web3 barriers.
Growing Ecosystem and Community Events
Since entering open beta in May 2024, Medieval Empires has continued to grow its player base through regular updates. Key milestones include the Genesis Commander NFT collection, loyalty reward seasons, weekly leaderboard events, and the addition of the Crusader faction in early 2025.
The game’s token, $MEE, has seen strong interest, rising 240% in value in the week before the Epic listing. It powers in-game upgrades, staking benefits, and special items, forming the core of the game’s economic layer.
Looking Ahead
The development team is now focusing on finalizing the mobile version and expanding the world of Medieval Empires with new content and factions. With its launch on a major platform like Epic Games, the game is now well-positioned to bring web3 gaming to a global audience—one town, one battle, and one strategy at a time.
