Abandoned, the PS5 title that never actually arrived, has resurfaced under a different name and with a 2027 release window.
Its official PlayStation page was updated without fanfare a few hours ago. The infamous Dutch studio Blue Box Game Studios has retitled the project ABANDONED PROLOGUE. That’s a bold choice for a game that has spent years avoiding any proof that it exists.

The listing also shows fresh key art, and there’s a new character on it.

Things get odd once you read the description. It says Abandoned is split into three versions. First comes a realtime experience, which it calls trailers in real time. Second is the Prologue Chapter, a new prologue sold as its own standalone game. Third is the Base Game, meaning the main, final release.
In other words, anyone who has been waiting since 2021 now has three separate things to wait for.
One fan’s post captured how most of the internet reacted: “GUESS WHO’S BACK?! “ABANDONED” has reappeared on the PSN store under ” ABANDONED PROLOGUE” with an updated release date of 2027 This will be interesting 🤣”
That’s fair. It really will be.
Hold on, wasn’t this meant to be a Kojima game?
For anyone who missed the first round, here’s a quick recap. Blue Box revealed Abandoned in 2021 and billed it as a cinematic first-person survival horror game for PS5. It promised big visuals and gameplay built around survival.
After that, fans began noticing a series of “coincidences” and concluded the whole project was cover for a secret Hideo Kojima project. More specifically, Silent Hill.
Blue Box did little to cool things down. At one stage the studio posted that the game’s real name “starts with S and ends with L.” That only fueled the theory further.
Hasan Kahraman, who runs the studio, denied that he was Kojima and denied any link to him. Then in 2022, Kojima himself said he had never spoken with Kahraman and had no involvement in the game.
And then the game began to vanish
This is where an odd rumor became one of the strangest stories gaming has seen in recent years.
The team kept delaying the release date. It deleted its tweets about the game. It announced trailers that never showed up. It even kept rewriting the game’s description.
In 2022, a long investigation talked to people who had worked with Kahraman. Those sources said development was in poor shape and that Kahraman had privately admitted Abandoned was effectively on hold.
For most people, that was the last they heard of it. Now it has a store page, a new face on the key art, and a release date three years after the original announcement fell apart. The name on the box still reads Abandoned.
