Ahsoka Tano doesn’t need a new streaming season to make her next appearance. On March 23, 2027, she returns in a $9.99 paperback that runs 320 pages.
The title is Ahsoka: A Novelization of Season One. It’s an expanded adaptation of the Disney+ show starring Rosario Dawson, and it tells the story of the first season’s eight episodes in prose. Random House/Star Wars is the publisher. Ebook and audiobook versions are planned too, so readers can choose the format they like.
It’s written for kids, with something for older fans
The book’s main audience is readers ages 7 to 10, though longtime fans aren’t shut out. Inside are eight pages of full-color images taken from the TV series. For anyone who has followed Ahsoka for years, those pages alone justify picking it up.
The author is S.T. Bende, who already has a long list of Star Wars titles. Those include the junior novelization of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars Bestiary, Vol. 1 and The Tiny Book of Jedi. Bende has also adapted several Star Wars: Epic Adventures books, which makes a kid-friendly take on a live-action season familiar territory.
Fans didn’t always like her
Viewers who know Ahsoka only from live action may see the 2027 release as one more item on the schedule. The date actually lands near the 20-year anniversary of a character whose start was rocky.
Ahsoka first showed up in 2008 as Anakin Skywalker’s young Padawan, introduced in the original Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie and animated series. Many fans disliked her. A lot of viewers thought her personality was annoying, and some questioned whether she fit into the established Star Wars timeline.
What changed opinions was the show’s steady work on her character. Her growth across The Clone Wars, followed by appearances in Star Wars Rebels and The Mandalorian, turned her into a fan favorite. Her live-action turns on Disney+ then put her in front of a much larger audience than animation had reached.
The series answered old questions
Dawson’s live-action Ahsoka debuted in 2023 to a generally positive response from critics, while audiences were more divided. The show still began resolving many questions the animated series had left open for years. For viewers who had been waiting on those answers since Rebels, that counted for a lot.
Bende is now adapting that season into book form. Parents with a young Star Wars fan get a simple starting point. Fans who stayed with Ahsoka during the years when most viewers wanted her gone get another way to revisit a story they already know.
The Padawan that viewers once wanted written out now has a novelization of her own, complete with full-color pages, arriving March 23, 2027.
