Bazooka Tango, the company behind the highly anticipated web3 game Shardbound, has officially launched the open beta version of the game on Epic Games Store and Steam. This major milestone comes after the game’s successful Kickstarter project in 2019.

For the over 100,000 pre-registered users, there is even better news as they will receive a unique set of playable cards. These sets include one Rare, one Epic, and one Legendary card, which will be distributed either via players’ Immu, Shardbound and its co-developer Immutable are kicking off a rewards campaign as part of Immutable’s The Main Quest. Players who complete various in-game quests can earn up to 100 gems, which can later be redeemed for Immutable’s IMX token.

Although Shardbound is fully playable as a web2 version, players can tap into optional web3 features that enhance the game’s elements. By connecting a wallet, players become eligible for NFT upgrades based on their participation during specific time windows. Missing a time-limited window means missing out on certain upgrades, to encourage early engagement in the game.

The upgrade schedule is as follows:
– First upgrade: 9-16th October
– Second upgrade: 16-23rd October
– Third upgrade: 23-30th October
– Fourth and final upgrade: 30 October-6th November

Players will also have the opportunity to participate in the Shard and Shield event, where they can complete missions for further rewards. Rewards for consecutive days played and faction-based events will allow players to expand their card collections.

Co-founder of Bazooka Tango, Bo Daly, expressed his excitement about the open beta launch, stating, “Shardbound’s open beta is a huge moment for us, and for the players who’ve been waiting to get in on the action. We’ve always believed in creating games that are fun to play but also have that extra depth for those who want to dig in. This is just the start of what we have planned, and I can’t wait to see how players take the game and make it their own.”
