Chainlink’s Spring 2023 Hackathon concluded with much fanfare, as 14,000 registrants from more than 100 countries worldwide submitted an astonishing 498 projects. The event set a new record for the company, signaling the fast-paced growth of Web3 innovation. Roughly 40% of the participants were newcomers to blockchain technology, highlighting the increasing accessibility of the field.
Celebrating Innovation: The Winning Projects
The hackathon awarded over $400,000 in various categories. The grand prize of $25,000 went to solo developer Eduard Lopez for Securechain, an innovative system designed to safeguard NFTs and tokens from potential attacks. The platform uses a unique blend of Web2 and Web3 techniques, employing Chainlink Functions to enable two-step authentication for digital asset transfers.
In the Tech for Good category, the top spot and a $15,000 prize were awarded to DREx, a platform designed to expedite the creation of solar projects. The second place and $5,000 went to Agrosurance, a decentralized insurance platform offering transparency to farmers.
The NFTs and Gaming prize of $15,000 was awarded to DataNFT for Dataset Licensing, developed by Ricky Yuen, Fei Lin, and Charles Cao. The DeFi prize, also amounting to $15,000, was clinched by Prompt DeFi, a user-friendly platform for executing DeFi actions via text or voice commands.
Special Recognition: Additional Prizes
The AI prize went to StoryChain, an innovative application allowing users to collaborate on AI-generated stories. Maven, Chainiversity, and Vernari Protocol were celebrated under the Chainlink Services category, with prizes of $7,000, $4,000, and $2,000, respectively.
The PAO, a DAO framework that addresses privacy issues in DAO operations, secured the DAO Prize. The Women in Tech Prize was awarded to Super Cool AI, an AI-powered NFT marketplace. Finally, an additional 40 projects received the Top-Quality Prizes for their outstanding contributions to the hackathon. Read them here.
