Immutable, Polygon and King River launch $100 million Inevitable Games Fund

Immutable and Polygon Labs have partnered with Australian and US-based venture capitalist firm, King River Capital, to launch the Inevitable Games Fund. The fund aims to raise a total of $100 million and will focus on investing in web3 games and infrastructure. It is described as an “ecosystem-agnostic fund.” Immutable and Polygon will be responsible for identifying investment opportunities and providing their expertise in the sector, while King River will manage the VC investment process.

Although the exact amount of funding raised is yet to be disclosed, some notable commitments have been made by Alpha Wave Ventures, Merit Circle, and the family offices of Steve Kokinos (Sonic Boom Ventures) and Mike Arrington (Arrington Capital). The co-founders of Immutable, Robbie and James Ferguson, and Polygon’s Sandeep Nailwal have also made commitments to the fund. Additionally, the fund will take over existing investments from these entities in projects such as Pixelmon, MetalCore, Guild of Guardians, and My Pet Hooligan.

Zeb Rice, the managing partner at King River, is optimistic about the potential impact of the fund. He believes that just as mobile gaming experienced significant growth in the past decade, web3 technology is poised for a similar transformation. Rice emphasized that the Inevitable Games Fund provides investors with a unique opportunity to participate in the rapidly expanding web3 gaming market. This market is projected to attract billions in spending as the technology continues to disrupt the gaming industry.
