Marketing Tech Platform MoviePass Completes Seed Funding Round Led by Animoca Brands

MoviePass, a marketing technology platform enhancing the exploration of film and the moviegoing experience, has completed a seed funding round led by Animoca Brands.

  • Yat Siu, Animoca Brands chairman, and co-founder, will join the board of MoviePass
  • MoviePass will focus on relaunching its movie theatre subscription service 

MoviePass, a marketing technology platform enhancing the exploration of film and the moviegoing experience, has completed a seed funding round led by Animoca Brands. The money raised will accelerate the beta relaunch of its movie theatre subscription service.

Claritas Capital, Emerald Plus, Gaingels, Harlem Capital, PKO VC, and Sandhill Angels also participated in the round.

Apart from accelerating the service’s relaunch, MoviePass will also develop and implement the company’s Web3 strategy, including VR cinema experiences and “how-to” to increase traffic in theaters using technology.

MoviePass started in 2011 and quickly became one of the nation’s premier movie theatre subscriptions service. It has the largest footprint of any theatrical subscription service featuring 100% of the theaters in the US.
