As of today, October 5, 2026, Aion 2 is available on Steam, and getting started costs absolutely nothing.

It’s a major moment for NC (NCSoft). The first Aion holds a special place among MMO RPG fans, and its successor runs on Unreal Engine 5, with the studio selling it as a next-gen experience.
Part sequel, part reboot
Aion 2 is trying to be two things at once: a direct continuation of the series and a fresh reboot of the franchise. Balancing those two goals is no easy feat.
Narratively, the game returns to the familiar Aion universe. Once again the Asmodians and Elyos take center stage, although both factions have received updates. (Veterans of the original should prepare themselves.)
The combat retains its action-focused style. Whether you’re working through PvE content or squaring off against other players in PvP, everything revolves around skills and combos.
A big promise about the world from NC
According to NC’s recent comments, this is the largest and most seamless world the company has ever created, offering deep exploration and plenty of content to tackle. Coming from a studio with such a long MMO track record, that’s quite a statement.
Beyond that, the genre staples are all present. Expect dungeons, bosses and guilds, along with lots of space to develop your character.
Still, NCSoft is keen to stress that this is more than the old game given a fresh coat of paint. The aim is a more modern and approachable experience that keeps the quirks that set the original Aion apart.
First impressions lean positive
At the moment, Steam lists the game as “Mostly Positive” based on more than 3,000 reviews. Expect that rating to shift as additional players jump in, so consider it an early snapshot.
The base game is free to access. Players who want extra content can choose from several paid packs, with the Founder’s Pack priced at 21.25 euros.
The clock is ticking
Pre-loading is already available, letting you finish the download ahead of time. For players in Greece, the game goes live about seven hours after this article was published.
That leaves you time to free up some hard drive space, pick a side between Asmodian and Elyos, and come to terms with how little sleep you’ll be getting tonight.
