MapleStory Universe (official site) revenue exceeds gameplay rewards
The newly published H1 2026 report from Nexpace lays out strong traction for MapleStory Universe, with protocol revenue running ahead of what the game paid out in gameplay rewards. Revenue for the half totaled 31 million NXPC tokens — worth roughly $9.9 million — against 28 million NXPC in gameplay rewards. That puts revenue about 10% above rewards, and both quarters closed with positive balances.
Rewards from gameplay are paid out in NESO, the in-game currency, at a rate of 100,000 NESO to a single NXPC. The emission numbers, then, should not be read as direct NXPC payouts.
For the first quarter, Nexpace reported 14.4 million NXPC in revenue against 13.2 million NXPC in gameplay rewards — a surplus of 1.2 million NXPC. Second-quarter revenue climbed to roughly 16.6 million NXPC while rewards came in at 14.9 million NXPC, producing a surplus of 1.7 million NXPC. Because revenue grew 15.4% quarter-over-quarter while rewards grew 13.0%, the surplus widened by 42%.
Almost all of the protocol revenue came from content, which delivered 94.8% of the total at 29,373,367 NXPC. The remaining 5.2% came from marketplace fees, though content by itself was the source of the surplus.
Two token burns were carried out by Nexpace over the first half, removing 6,202,010 NXPC in total, worth roughly $2 million. The first, on May 21, took out 2,876,483 NXPC; the second, on July 16, accounted for 3,325,525 NXPC.
Gross marketplace volume for the period came to approximately 32.1 million NXPC — around $10.2 million — spread across 2,740,235 transactions. That works out to an average transaction size of 11.71 NXPC, or roughly $3.74.
As of June 30, MapleStory Universe counted 855,506 engaged wallets, 564,714 of which were paying wallets. In other words, 66% of engaged wallets produced positive protocol fees via content or marketplace activity.
Taken together, the report points to rising quarterly revenue and a widening surplus alongside active marketplace participation — momentum the company intends to build on through community-facing efforts such as ongoing hackathons.
