Pett.ai Pulls the Plug: AI Digital Pets Shut Down for Good on September 7

pett ai pulls the plug ai digital pets shut down for good on september In Brief:

In Brief:

  • Pett.ai (official site) is closing down, with operations ending on September 7, 2026.
  • What happens to player assets and the AIP token has not been disclosed.
  • The studio’s AI-first approach to gaming underscored just how hard sustainability and economic viability remain.

Pett.ai shuts down operations

On August 22, 2026, Pett.ai revealed that it is winding down, and its digital pets will be taken offline for good on September 7. Beyond that date, the notice offered no specifics regarding player assets, the AIP token, or any contractual obligations.

In its message, the studio thanked the community, extending appreciation to “every PettBro, creator, supporter, and partner” who played a part in the project’s journey. Come September 7, the “little purple friends” will cease to exist.

What the game offered

The title paired artificial intelligence with pet care mechanics, letting players feed and entertain their companions while facing a genuine risk of neglect. Ten mini-games rounded out the offering, together with competitive PvP modes and Guild Wars.

At the heart of it all sat an AI framework built on five large language models, which let pets learn and adapt as time passed. Image generation, crypto research tooling, and a planned AI Agent Factory filled out the feature set.

Rewards were governed by what the studio called an AI Central Bank, which adjusted for inflation in real time in an effort to sidestep the pitfalls that typically plague reward-driven games.

PettBro, which debuted on December 18, 2025, handled player interactions automatically, carrying out a minimum of eight transactions each day to keep pets healthy. Distributed through the Pearl app store, the agent stretched into trading, DeFi asset management, and social media generation as well. Onboarding hid the blockchain layer from view, offering Google or Apple sign-ins along with streamlined wallet handling.

David Minarsch, CEO of Valory and a founder of Olas, said at launch, “AI agents should not be just for traders and developers. PettBro is special because it combines a fun and social experience with tangible support for the crypto world.”

The fate of the token

AIP lived on Base, capped at a maximum supply of 500 million, with roughly 349.51 million in circulation. Most of its trading volume ran against WETH on Aerodrome.

Its price swung considerably over time, reaching a high of 0.04323 USD on January 22, 2025, then sliding to 0.0001584 USD by the time the shutdown was announced. That amounts to a 99.6 percent decline from the peak and a market capitalization of roughly 55,300 USD.

Broader implications

The shutdown echoes a wider pattern across web3 gaming, with plenty of studios either closing their doors or changing direction throughout 2026. The script tends to repeat: an early token surge, a long slide afterward, and eventually a wind-down once the money runs out.

Pett.ai took an unusual route, yet its collapse fits the industry’s stubborn economic problems. AI agents remain a live area of experimentation, and other teams may still pursue comparable player-driven automation inside their games.

Players are working against a short clock. With no formal wind-down process announced, anything still held inside the Pett.ai ecosystem sits in limbo until the September 7 cutoff.
