Resident Evil Requiem has already earned half a billion dollars in revenue, and no earlier game in the series reached that figure as quickly.

The estimate comes from the analysis firm Alinea Analytics. Its data ranks Requiem as the fastest-selling Resident Evil ever, crossing $500 million in revenue in record time. That is a strong opening for the newest chapter of a franchise that was already one of the industry’s biggest sellers.
How the 8.5 million copies break down
Alinea’s figures show Requiem has sold more than 8.5 million copies worldwide across PlayStation 5, Steam and Xbox Series X|S. The split by platform shows where survival horror players now do most of their buying.
PS5 accounts for the largest share at 48.1%. Steam is close behind at 43.4%, and Xbox is far back at 8.6%. PlayStation and PC are nearly level, and Xbox takes what remains.
The most interesting number is on PlayStation. Physical copies made up 30.8% of PS5 sales, or roughly 1.2 million discs. Plenty of players still want a boxed copy on the shelf, especially for a series many of them have collected for decades.
The missing Switch 2 numbers
One console isn’t counted. Alinea published no figures for Nintendo Switch 2, so the 8.5 million total excludes that platform entirely. Any copies Requiem sold on Nintendo’s hardware would be added to that figure.
Closing in on Resident Evil 4 Remake
Requiem is selling faster than every previous entry, and it is expected to overtake Resident Evil 4 Remake eventually. That target is a big one: the remake has made $600 million in total since launch. Requiem is already only $100 million behind, even though it hasn’t been on sale for long.
The timing is working in its favour. The Resident Evil movie appears to have given the franchise’s remakes a big lift, and Capcom’s recent sales added to that momentum. Requiem arrived just as interest in the whole series picked up again.
A word of caution
Keep one caveat in mind. These figures come from a third-party firm, not from Capcom, so treat them carefully until the publisher releases its own numbers.
Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27 for PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Months after release, the main open question is when it will pass the $600 million mark.
