  • According to Borget, he’ll take a seat on the judging panel, with the event geared toward creators, builders, students and innovators.

No dates, prize pool or venue were mentioned in the post. It listed The Sandbox and Minds — the platform Animoca Brands runs at hellominds.ai — as its partners.

Two Animoca properties, one jam

The competition brings The Sandbox, Animoca’s metaverse platform, together with Minds, the company’s newer product line. Borget stopped short of explaining exactly how the two would work together within the contest.

Game jams are a well-worn recruiting mechanism for The Sandbox. The platform has leaned on timed building competitions to draw fresh creators to its editor, among them a Retro Game Jam and its Hong Kong Creators Day, an event that attracted upward of 300 builders, brands and partners.

Minds, for its part, has staged several Hong Kong initiatives this year. It co-hosted Build East, a demo day held with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation on July 7 at Hong Kong Science Park, where eight local teams pitched for entry into the Minds Investment Programme. The platform also teamed up with Yield Guild Games on the vibecode.game game jam, a virtual four-week contest scheduled from July 13 to Aug. 10.

Borget’s role

Borget holds the titles of co-founder and global ambassador at The Sandbox. He has previously appeared at Consensus Hong Kong to discuss Asia’s place in blockchain gaming and the platform’s take on cultural localization.

The announcement didn’t reveal who the other judges for Creative Minds Jam #1 would be.

Both The Sandbox and Animoca Brands are headquartered in Hong Kong. Animoca’s prior Hong Kong drive for The Sandbox featured collaborations with local universities and educational bodies through its Mega City partnerships.

The earlier Retro Game Jam from The Sandbox came with a prize pool of 150,000 SAND.
