In Brief:
- Holders of Atia Original Crystals (AOC) will soon be able to mint fresh Origin Axies through Sky Mavix, bringing a long-dormant redemption mechanic back to life.
- A total of 1,375 unrolled AOC have made the move to Ronin, opening the door to 275 extra Origin Axies — each carrying a shot at rare Mystic parts.
- The Mystic floor sits at roughly 3.34 ETH right now, so the redemption ahead could leave a real mark on collectors and the wider market.
Sky Mavix revives AOC redemption for Origin Axies
Sky Mavix is preparing to bring back the ability to redeem Atia Original Crystals (AOC) for minted Origin Axies. The move arrives after years in which the AOC sat idle, having first been distributed during the original Axie Infinity presale in 2018.
AOC began life as referral tokens: hand over five of them, and you received a new Origin Axie in return. That mechanic was eventually retired, but in January 2024 the 1,375 unused crystals were migrated off Ethereum and onto Ronin. Now rebranded as Atia Original Crystals, they can once again be traded in for Axies by the wallets that hold them.
According to Sky Mavix, redemptions will open “soon” through App.Axie. Every batch of five AOC turned in mints a single Origin Axie — and there’s a chance of rolling a Mystic.
The minting process is anything but routine. An Axie is built from six body parts, and each one carries a 7% chance of coming out Mystic. Do the math and any given Origin has a 35.3% shot at landing at least one Mystic part, meaning roughly 97 of the anticipated 275 Axies should include one.
What makes Mystics so coveted is scarcity by design: their parts can’t be produced through normal breeding and appear only when an Origin is created. Market figures put the total population at under 1,500, with the floor pushing up to around 3.34 ETH — a climb that followed a Mystic changing hands for 2.9 ETH, or roughly $5,500.
Origins are hard-capped at 4,088 in total, all traced back to sales held between February and April 2018. Reviving AOC adds another notable entry to the long-running story of Axie Infinity (official site). Should every one of the 1,375 crystals be redeemed, the wave of new Origins could stir up plenty of excitement among collectors.
For the 37 wallets sitting on AOC NFTs today, the announcement turns any five eight-year-old crystals into a lottery ticket aimed at one of the most valuable collectible tiers in Axie Infinity.
