Splinterlands, the popular blockchain TCG game, is set to launch a new gameplay mode called Survival. The third mode to be introduced since the game’s inception, Survival, will offer players a fresh and exciting way to battle it out in the Splinterlands universe.
Unlike the existing Modern and Wild formats, Survival mode will not require any energy to enter matches. This means that players can participate in battles as long as they want, but with a twist – once a card dies during a battle, it will be unavailable for use in any matches for a limited time. The cooldown period for a card will depend on its rarity, level, and foil.
This new gameplay mechanic adds a strategic layer to the game, encouraging players to focus on collecting and combining cards rather than just assembling the strongest team. Splinterlands anticipates that Survival mode will motivate players to acquire multiple copies of essential cards to succeed in battles.
Additionally, the Survival mode will feature an SPS reward pool similar to Modern and Wild modes. Players will earn SPS for each win based on the reward shares they earned in that battle, relative to the total rewards earned from all Survival mode battles in the past 15 days.
Furthermore, leaderboard rewards for the highest-rated players will be at the end of each ranked play season.
While the official release date for Survival mode has not been confirmed, Splinterlands aims to roll out the initial version in the coming months. The developer looks forward to receiving community feedback and ideas to enhance and refine the new battle mode.
