The blockchain-powered VR platform Somnium Space is developing the Live Forever mode, where you can become immortal in the metaverse.
If you want a chance to live forever as an Avatar on the blockchain, you have to provide Somnium Space with tons of personal data. Somnium Space claims that as a decentralized world, they don’t make money by selling people’s data, unlike mainstream social media platforms. For this concept to work, users will have to pay a specific amount yearly and have complete control of their data. The company aims to keep the price as low as possible. Indicative, they charged early adopters around $50 for a year.
As stated by Artur Sychov, CEO and founder of Somnium Space, if a person dies in real life, people can meet him again in the metaverse by interacting with an Avatar that uses the same voice, movements, and memories.
If you change your mind while still alive, you will be able to turn off the service and delete all of your data, although we are not exactly sure how this will happen if the data is stored on the blockchain. The more information Somnium Space collects, the more accurate your avatar version is.
The first set of AI avatars will roll out next year. The virtual version of you would continue evolving with artificial intelligence technology even if data was collected years ago.
