In Brief:
- LOL Land (official site) closed on July 31, capping a run that started on Abstract in May 2025 and generated $8.59 million in lifetime revenue.
- The shutdown comes after Yield Guild Games decided on July 6 to sunset YGG Play (official site), eliminate 35 jobs and retire the launchpad, the questing site and Waifu Sweeper.
- According to co-founder Gabby Dizon, the closure was “a market decision, not a product decision,” with YGG Play revenue having peaked in October 2025.
LOL Land ceased to function on July 31.
“The sun is setting on LOL Land,” the game’s account wrote. “As of today, July 31st, our game is officially closing and will no longer be accessible.”

The board game marked YGG Play’s first in-house production and, for part of 2025, stood as the most commercially successful thing Yield Guild Games had ever shipped. Built by Hype Reel, it went live May 23, 2025 on Abstract, featuring Pudgy Penguins characters and a $10 million prize pool denominated in YGG tokens.
What players had to do before the cutoff
Purchases and platform mission systems for LOL Land and Waifu Sweeper began going offline at 3 p.m. Singapore time on July 9. Platform support ran through July 31, and players were instructed to unstake $LOL within the game app and manually redeem in-game points for $YGG ahead of the deadline.
Anything left unprocessed is converted automatically and sent to associated wallets after a snapshot taken on the cutoff date. Beyond that point, there is no manual support.
The yggplay.fun site, the launchpad at app.yggplay.fun and the Community Missions page were all taken down at the same time as the games.
The revenue arc
YGG’s own reporting makes LOL Land’s slide easy to trace. Lifetime revenue for the game passed $4.5 million in autumn 2025, with $2.4 million of that arriving in the preceding 30 days. In July 2025 it pulled in over 630,000 monthly users on Abstract and $3.1 million in revenue.
Come the first quarter of 2026, the game’s contribution had fallen to $563,599 against a lifetime figure of $8.59 million. YGG Play as a whole managed a little more than $876,000 for the quarter. Unit-wide lifetime revenue cleared $9 million by the close of Q1, with nine games signed.
Dizon has argued the headline figures hide the shape of the curve. The peak came in October 2025.
Why YGG pulled the plug
YGG made the sunset public on July 6, stating that YGG Play “cannot be commercially sustainable” amid a drawn-out crypto downturn combined with a video game publishing market the company described as similarly brutal. It pointed to the Oct. 10 crash — which erased more than $19 billion in leveraged positions within 24 hours — as having “fundamentally altered retail market psychology” and having drained away the liquidity its casual degen audience depended on.
“Sunsetting YGG Play is a heavy decision, but it is a market decision, not a product decision,” Dizon said.
He resisted framing the closure as an indictment of the wider sector, describing it instead as “specific to our circumstances” and citing Axie, Gigaverse and OnChain Heroes as counterexamples.
The 35 employees affected are receiving eight extra weeks of pay along with assistance in finding new positions. Those cuts join more than 5,000 crypto industry job losses recorded this year.
What survives
GIGACHADBAT and Ragnarok Breaker remain online, with live service returned to Delabs Games and Planetarium Labs respectively and the handover completed by Aug. 1. New token redemption processes are coming to both.
The 2026 YGG Play Summit has been called off. Manila had been on the calendar for Nov. 19 to 22, following a 2025 edition that pulled in more than 5,600 attendees.
The pivot
Staff and capital are being redirected toward selling anonymized gaming datasets to AI labs training world models, with the company flagging applications in robotics and in-game agents. YGG reported a $20.6 million treasury as of Q1 2026 and said the restructuring stretches runway to roughly four years. Mid-July brought the launch of an AI Game Jam and a platform called Vibecode.Game.
Over the past year the YGG token has fallen roughly 84%, and it sits about 99.8% below its 2021 peak of $11.17. LOL Land’s own token has done even worse. $LOL arrived via the YGG Play Launchpad with a contribution window running Oct. 29 to 31, then started trading Nov. 1 on decentralized exchanges only. Recent pricing had it around $0.00056, on roughly $105 of trading volume over 24 hours.
