EVE Frontier dangles 1,000 Grace on a seven-day Dermestid cull

eve frontier dangles 1000 grace on a seven day dermestid cull In Brief:

In Brief:

  • EVE Frontier has kicked off a Dermestid hunt between 4 and 11 August, with fresh KEEP missions handing out Grace.
  • Take down 20 Dermestids as a community and 1,000 Grace goes to every participant.
  • The Dermestid is what the Allotrope Clade drones — introduced in Cycle 6: Sanctuary on 25 June — turn into once hatched.

A seven-day Dermestid hunt is now live in EVE Frontier, running 4-11 August and pinning a flat 1,000 Grace payout to one server-wide kill tally.

That tally is 20. Per the game’s account on X, if the community brings down 20 Dermestids, all participants collect the 1,000 Grace.

Solo effort is rewarded on its own track. For the week, the studio has layered in new KEEP missions that each carry a Grace reward of their own, meaning a rider who never lands a killing blow on a Dermestid can still bank progress.

“The Hunt is On,” the account posted. “Dermestids have appeared on the Frontier.”

Nor are the spawns fixed. Dermestids will begin emerging near active players, dropping the encounters where the population already sits instead of confining them to one pocket of space.

What a Dermestid is

The creature turned up with Cycle 6: Sanctuary, which went live 25 June, as one half of a two-stage feral drone known as the Allotrope Clade.

Stage one is the Mycena. It scavenges materials and puts together a stationary Chrysalis, which is vulnerable for as long as it sits there eating resources. Leave it be and out comes the Dermestid, a ranged combatant the studio labels highly dangerous.

Hence the trade-off. Destroy the Chrysalis early for an easy fight and poorer loot, or let it hatch for potentially rarer loot — provided whatever emerges doesn’t kill you first.

Why Grace matters

Grace serves as the development-phase progression currency: it is earned within a Cycle and converted into EVE Points once that Cycle wraps. Players keep tabs on it via the KEEP Monitor, the mission hub housed in the Terminal next to the Broadcast Terminal.

Launch is where it stops. Grace is a Founder Access construct, so a 1,000 Grace community payout carries real weight during testing and would be worthless afterwards.

Where the hunt sits in Cycle 6

Announced 15 May, Sanctuary shipped 25 June alongside a full server reset that wiped progress for newcomers and returning players alike. Bundled with it was a five-day free trial aimed at new players and at account holders without Founder Access.

Ships were rebuilt as modular assemblies in the cycle. Players begin with the Seed of a vessel, then grow it by acquiring, evolving and integrating modules. Spawns and respawns all happen in a starting zone known as the Creche until a Refuge is built.

Dormant Gates were scattered across starter systems. Repair, reenergize and reactivate one and routes into new star systems open up.

Driving the economy loop is LUX, which players trade for a test version of $EVE in order to buy Mining Lenses. Those pull Crude Matter out of rifts, and it refines into Fuel for ships, bases and infrastructure.

Everything also got harder. Extreme temperature swings mean riders have to manage their ship’s exposure, while hostile AI turned more reactive, with Ferals squabbling over resources and reacting to what players do.

The patch cadence around it

Patch 0.6.4.0 arrived 22 July carrying the Stuttergun weapon class, a Thrust Overdrive module, a reworked Needle laser and defect fixes. Patch 0.6.5.0 came after it with the Transponder and Fuel Blister modules.

Slated for 18 August is a mid-season update under the banner “better tools in a bigger toolbox,” which adds further character shell modules geared toward survival plus gravity hazards from black holes and rifts.

Dermestids weren’t the only drones sharpened this cycle. The same update cut Conservators’ health and shields while raising their damage, turning those encounters faster and more lethal.
