Two hosts, two microphones, and seven days of PlayStation news chaotic enough to fill a whole show. That’s the premise behind the latest FRAMERATE special, in which Sakis and Themis talk through what they openly label the “drama” between PlayStation and Hideo Kojima.
Stories like this usually get compressed into headlines before the day is out. This episode takes its time instead.
And since no gaming conversation this past week could realistically avoid it, the Nintendo Direct ends up right in the thick of things as well.
Nintendo showed up with the bigger lineup
The Direct handed Sakis and Themis more material than these showcases normally do. They work through what Nintendo has queued up for Switch 2, and the slate leads with titles that carry serious weight.
Topping it all is the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. A 1998 release rebuilt for a console that didn’t even have a name two years back, it’s the announcement that soaks up most of the attention in the room.
The new 2D Metroid also gets its moment. So does the Kirby game on the way.
Where the Kojima thread actually leads
The PlayStation portion of the episode isn’t a straight recap. Sakis and Themis dig into what has unfolded between Sony and Kojima across recent days — the piece of the story that’s been toughest to make sense of from the outside.
That discussion runs in parallel with the Nintendo material instead of being walled off from it. The two threads keep colliding, which is arguably the whole reason to handle this as a conversation rather than a news write-up.
The full episode tackles all of that, and a fair bit beyond what’s summarized here.
Worth a listen if the headlines are all you’ve seen
Anywhere online will give you the bullet points on the Kojima situation and the Direct’s lineup inside of five minutes. What five minutes won’t give you is two people going back and forth over what all of it means for Switch 2’s first genuinely important year.
