EA’s latest football title is playable as of right now. Whether you’re one of the people playing it comes down to what you were willing to spend.
The launch of EA Sports FC 27 is limited to buyers of the €99.99 Ultimate Edition for the moment. That tier bundles early access with the base game and a stack of extras. Anyone else has to sit tight until September 25th, the date the wide release arrives alongside physical copies and the standard digital version.
This is the staggered pattern the franchise has leaned on for years. Spend more, start sooner. Skip it, and you spend most of a week watching streams of other people playing.

What €99.99 actually buys you
There’s a lot on the Ultimate Edition manifest. Buyers get 6,000 FC Points spread over 3 months, an FUT Player Evo slot, 5 Manager Live Challenge Creation Slots and a 5-Star Senior Scout for Manager Career. Add to that the Season 1 Premium Pass plus a Career Dynamic OVR Pre-season Boost.
A couple of the perks look back instead of ahead: an FUT 93+ OVR ICON Player Item (untradeable) tied to FC 26, and an FUT Player Dribbling Evo, again for FC 26. Both belong to a game you have to buy separately.
The numbers behind the pitch
Scale is what EA’s own copy hammers on. “EA SPORTS FC 27 welcomes you to The World’s Game, offering you greater control in every mode and an authentic football experience. Play with over 21,000 players, choose from 800+ clubs and national teams, and experience the action in 130+ stadiums and 35+ leagues from around the globe.”
More than 21,000 players is the figure being sold here, and it’s the sort of stat that only lands after you’ve spent three hours scrolling a transfer list at 2 a.m.
The Grounds is PlayStation 5 only
This year’s largest structural addition arrives with a caveat attached. EA calls The Grounds “a social football hub where the streets meet the pitch (exclusive to PlayStation 5). From Kickabout and 1v1 matches to collaborating with friends in Clubs, connect with established football mentors, sharpen your skills, and express yourself on and off the pitch.”
Play on Xbox, PC or Switch and that mode simply isn’t part of the package. Something to factor in before committing to a platform.
As for the football itself, EA’s pitch is “greater control across every game mode with smoother, more realistic gameplay, featuring dynamic corners, improved attacking movement, manual defending designed for competitive play, and further innovations inspired by the community.” Manual defending aimed at competitive play is the phrase most likely to start a fight among the FUT faithful.
Career mode gets the rework
The more compelling overhaul lands in Manager Career. EA has rebuilt the Transfer Market around “realistic player valuations and active bidding from clubs,” and performance and buy-back clauses are now part of negotiations. Dynamic OVR tracks a player’s form, morale and physical condition at whichever club he’s with.
Your wonderkid’s rating, in other words, no longer sits still. It shifts with his performances and his mood, wherever he happens to be playing.
Over in Football Ultimate Team, the new FUT Gallery lets you show off favorite Player Items, push your Gallery Level higher and collect rewards for it. EA’s framing is that it shapes “your identity as a collector” over the course of the season. In practice, a display case for the cards you’ve pulled.
Where and how much
Platforms are PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Standard-edition pricing sits at €79.99 on PlayStation and Xbox, dropping to €69.99 on PC and Switch.
Between the cheapest entry point and the edition you can actually boot up today lies a €30 gap. That’s nine full days of FUT market movement, with the early buyers assembling squads while standard-edition customers keep hitting refresh on a store page.
So: September 25th. One game at two prices, and a week’s worth of highlight clips to watch rather than play.
