In Brief:

  • The inaugural Tavernlight Showcase from Tavernlight Games went live on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. PT across Twitch and YouTube.
  • According to the studio, the broadcast would deliver the official launch date for Fortune’s Frontier, the seasonal PvPvE mode for RavenQuest (official site) first revealed in March, alongside an initial glimpse of an expansion titled The Fallen King and news about RavenIdle (official site).
  • Before the showcase was announced, The Fallen King had never surfaced publicly; Fortune’s Frontier has carried no release date in the six months since its reveal.

Tavernlight Games committed to revealing Fortune’s Frontier’s launch date during its debut Tavernlight Showcase, a livestream broadcast on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. PT via Twitch and YouTube.

Beyond that, the developer behind RavenQuest said viewers would get a preview of The Fallen King, an expansion nobody had heard of until now, as well as an update on RavenIdle, the idle RPG spun off from the main game.

In a post on X published the morning of the broadcast, the studio wrote: “We’ll be sharing the Fortune’s Frontier official launch date, a sneak peek of our upcoming The Fallen King Expansion, updates on @RavenIdle and so much more!”

Everything in a single broadcast

Earlier in the month, Tavernlight announced the date on X, billing the event as “the Biggest Livestream Showcase we’ve ever put together!”

The single-stream approach was a conscious choice, the studio said. “Instead of splitting everything we’ve been building into a bunch of separate reveals, we decided to bring it all” together, according to the announcement.

Sept. 19 landed on a Saturday. How long the broadcast would last was not disclosed by Tavernlight.

Six months on, Fortune’s Frontier still has no date

Fortune’s Frontier tops the bill. Tavernlight unveiled the mode in March to coincide with RavenQuest’s first anniversary, and no release date has followed since.

Designed as a seasonal, quick-entry PvPvE format, the mode resets with every season, and all players, whether new or returning, begin with advanced-level characters. That eliminates the progression gap that separates veterans from newcomers.

The mode lives inside the same launcher and client as the core game. Players roll a new character and select the Frontier as their mode of play.

Its setting reaches back to an earlier, more untamed chapter of RavenQuest’s history. At the heart of it lies the wreck of The Dawn of Fortune, a ship that a coalition of Lyderia’s richest families commissioned to ferry their treasure overseas. Lore has it that a storm sank the vessel near the Pirate Isles, spreading its cargo across the surrounding islands.

Three islands, Sajecho, Harbor and Gilead, await players, each more dangerous than the one before. They battle creatures, face off against rival players and attempt to escape the islands with whatever loot they can hold.

Tavernlight has framed the mode as a growth engine for the broader RavenQuest world and the $QUEST ecosystem. A Reward Pool accompanies every season and pays out to the top performers. Those who complete a season are intended to have a natural on-ramp into the persistent game and its deeper systems.

At the March reveal, Nicolas Schrik, CEO of Tavernlight Games, said: “Fortune’s Frontier is our answer to the ‘progression wall’ often found in MMOs.” The seasonal, skill-driven format, he explained, handed the studio an entry point for newcomers while giving veterans “a high-stakes challenge where every decision matters.”

The Fallen King

The Fallen King is entirely new. The showcase announcement marked the first time Tavernlight referenced the expansion publicly, and the studio shared nothing beyond describing it as “upcoming” and promising a sneak peek.

It would arrive after Rise of Tyrants, the free expansion released May 23 that introduced the Tyrant System, RavenQuest’s first dedicated endgame PvE group content designed around coordinated five-player teams.

RavenIdle

Rounding out the agenda is RavenIdle, Tavernlight’s idle RPG set within the RavenQuest universe. Available on web, mobile and Telegram, it tasks players with dispatching heroes on adventures, running dungeons, customizing land and trading with neighbors.

Tavernlight’s announcement of RavenIdle’s Season 0 came with a $70,000 prize pool capable of growing to $570,000 in $QUEST, NFTs and Immutable Gems, with 100% of Battle Pass revenue feeding the pool. Season 0 was initially scheduled for July 4 before being delayed, with an open beta planned for Sept. 10 ahead of the first season.

What the RavenIdle segment of the showcase would cover, the studio has not said.

Background

RavenQuest launched worldwide on March 14, 2025 on Immutable. It is the free-to-play successor to Ravendawn, Tavernlight’s earlier pixel-art MMORPG.

The studio has also stated it intends to release a third game before the year ends.

On the morning of Sept. 19, Tavernlight’s message to its players ran to just two words. “Be there,” it said.
