token2049 singapore kicks off sold out run with 25000 attendees unveils new york edition for 2027 In Brief:

In Brief:

  • As day one of TOKEN2049 Singapore wrapped, organizers announced a New York edition set for June 16-17, 2027.
  • This year’s sold-out event has drawn 25,000 attendees from 160 countries and features more than 250 speakers.
  • The overlap between AI and crypto dominated conversations, a trend with consequences for in-game economies across web3 gaming.

TOKEN2049 heads to New York

The Singapore edition of TOKEN2049 got underway on October 7 at Marina Bay Sands, and its opening day ended with major news, chief among them an expansion into the United States. Organizers expect roughly 15,000 people to attend the first-ever TOKEN2049 New York, which will take place June 16-17, 2027.

The U.S. move was spotlighted on a panel with Eric Trump and Zach Witkoff of World Liberty Financial. Admission to the New York conference will cost $599, and a TOKEN2049 Week of side events will run across the city alongside it.

Co-founder Alex Fiskum said: “Bringing TOKEN2049 to the U.S. has been a long time coming. Our attendees and partners have been asking us to make it happen.”

Singapore by the numbers

All five floors of Marina Bay Sands have been sold out for the Singapore conference, which hosts more than 500 exhibitors along with a city pavilion devoted to Dubai. Close to 250 speakers are taking the stage across six venues to cover a broad range of subjects, and the lineup of prominent names includes Adena Friedman and the Winklevoss twins.

Ahead of the event, Fiskum noted, “We’ve fully sold out. It’s been a full year since our last TOKEN2049 experience.”

Day 1 highlights

The opening day produced several noteworthy announcements. Maelstrom chief investment officer Arthur Hayes unveiled FLOP, a network designed to let AI agents carry out transactions on blockchain infrastructure. The project is aiming for a testnet by the end of October, with a mainnet launch planned for Q1 2027.

BitMine’s Tom Lee confirmed that the firm, which currently holds 6.02 million ETH, will cap its holdings at 5 percent of Ethereum’s supply. Conversation also touched on a possible on-chain asset linked to the economy of Polymarket’s platform, though no additional details were shared.

AI agents take center stage

AI agents became one of the day’s defining themes, with speakers arguing that these agents require blockchain to handle payments and transactions on their own. Decentralized finance, market structure, stablecoins, and institutions were also on the agenda, and an invite-only track on institutional adoption is scheduled for October 8.

Hackathon, startups, and side events

Beyond the main venue, participants gathered for the TOKEN2049 Origins Hackathon, a 36-hour contest with a $150,000 prize pool. Running for the duration of the conference, the NEXUS Startup Competition offers a $250,000 prize pool.

Other gatherings during the week include Sui Basecamp and the Solana Summit. Everything wraps up on October 9 with After 2049, the official closing party, which lines up with the festivities around Singapore’s Grand Prix.

What it means for web3 gaming

Gaming wasn’t a headline topic on Day 1, but the debate over AI agents that hold wallets and complete transactions carries real implications for web3 games, as such developments could transform how in-game economies and interactions function. Meanwhile, the forthcoming New York event gives game studios a fresh avenue to connect with U.S. investors and audiences, a market of key importance to the gaming industry.
