Wagyu Games has officially announced the relaunch of Undead Blocks, the popular zombie-themed web3 shooter, on the Avalanche blockchain.

The move comes with a new partnership with Blackhole, a decentralized exchange (DEX) that will support the game’s token economy and marketing push. After a quiet period following its original release, the game is coming back with an upgraded version and a detailed roadmap extending into mid-2026.

Relaunch and Blockchain Transition

Originally launched in 2022 on Ethereum and Immutable, Undead Blocks gained attention for its “kill-to-earn” mechanics and NFT-powered rewards. Players could earn Gold ZBUX—tied to real-world value—by owning Genesis Weapon NFTs and competing in various gameplay modes. While the game offered off-chain rewards for free players, major expansions like mobile versions were delayed.

Now, Wagyu Games is shifting the game’s backend and token infrastructure to Avalanche for improved scalability and performance. As part of the relaunch, the native $UNDEAD token will be bridged to the new chain, enabling smoother in-game transactions and integration with new features. Blackhole will provide exchange listings, co-marketing, and trading competitions to support the game’s re-entry into the market.

New Features and Updated Ecosystem

The relaunch brings new maps, weapons, and tournaments, along with an expanded in-game economy. Gold ZBUX rewards are returning, and the game’s skin collection, originally on Immutable, will migrate fully to Avalanche. Wagyu Games is also preparing to launch its own NFT marketplace, a rental platform, and a stake-to-mint system to further build its ecosystem.

New updates will also include experimental features like a Blood Box reward system and Music Jukebox for added gameplay immersion. A reworked user interface and map enhancements are set to roll out in the initial quarters post-relaunch.

Roadmap Through 2026

Starting in Q3 2025, major upgrades will include transitioning game servers to Google Cloud, revamping the UI, enhancing current maps, and restarting mobile game development. Additional content such as character skins, new weapons, and VIP tournaments will be added gradually.

In early 2026, the game will launch its long-awaited mobile version and introduce a fully functional in-game store with support for debit and credit cards. A battle pass system will go live, and mobile-specific modes like Squads Mobile will follow. By Q2, players can expect expanded customization with new clothing and accessories, the release of the Graveyard map, and extended NFT drops.
