maze of gains 2 0 second playtest goes public as onchain heroes lifts nft gate In Brief:

In Brief:

  • Onchain Heroes (official site) has thrown open its second Maze of Gains 2.0 playtest to everybody, scrapping the NFT requirement that fenced off the opening round.
  • Anyone taking part can pick up keys by trying the game out and sending in feedback ahead of the full release.
  • The change broadens entry to an extraction roguelike built on Abstract and powered by the $HERO token.

Onchain Heroes has made the second playtest of Maze of Gains 2.0 available to all players, stripping away the entry conditions that previously reserved the first round for Ringbearer NFT and Expedition Pass holders.

With the second playtest now open to anyone, players are able to earn keys simply by jumping in and passing along their feedback.

The second MoG 2.0 playtest is now available to everyone, and it's an absolute blast!

What changed

The debut MoG 2.0 playtest went live on July 1 with 250 Arcade Keys up for grabs, and getting in demanded either a Ringbearer NFT or an Expedition Pass.

That first round brought in persistent upgrades that stick with a player across a run, along with a reworked combat system that rewards learning enemy patterns rather than leaning on luck. Fresh biomes, one-off rooms and in-game items were folded in to ramp up the tension the deeper players venture.

How the game works

Maze of Gains sends players into mazes to battle, gather upgrades and judge the right moment to walk out with their loot. Thanks to the inventive leveling system, choices made early snowball the further a player progresses.

The title lives within the Onchain Heroes universe on Abstract and relies on the $HERO token for in-game transactions. It was created by Skarly, previously a designer on Wolf Game.

MoG is short for Maze of Gains. Entry to the broader game is handled through keys and NFTs, with the Genesis Hero and Genesis Ringbearer collections unlocking access to related events.

The draw is the very one behind every extraction game: keep pushing and the payoff swells, but linger too long and you leave with nothing.
