For the past several days, staff at Cypress Cove Nudist Resort in Kissimmee, Florida have been stuck telling Google reviewers the same thing: the property is in Florida, not Leonida.
Its Google listing began collecting posts that name-dropped “Jason Duval,” “Lucia,” binoculars, a pool and firearms. Not one of the people writing them had ever booked a stay. Every one of them was riffing on Grand Theft Auto 6.
The owner has worked through them individually, issuing about the most exhausted correction imaginable.
“For anyone wondering about the suddenly recurring references to ‘Jason Duval,’ ‘Lucia,’ binoculars, a pool, firearms, and other suspiciously similar details — those are references to Grand Theft Auto VI,” the site owner said. “Yes. A video game.”
Where the joke curdles
According to the owner, what hit the page was a “coordinated series of fabricated posts using GTA VI references” — and in some cases, they allege, the posts arrived alongside demands that the resort “pay money to have the reviews changed or removed.”
The answer left no room for interpretation: “we will not pay” and “we will not negotiate.” The resort says it has “documented the reviews and the request for payment,” noting that “This activity is being reported through the appropriate channels.”
And then came a closing line worth framing.
“For our actual guests and anyone researching Cypress Cove: please understand that these posts do not describe genuine guest experiences at our resort,” the resort’s Google representative said. “And to whoever is behind them: We appreciate the commitment to the GTA storyline, but Cypress Cove is located in Florida — not Leonida.”
How a nudist resort entered the conversation at all
This is the detail that deserves care. No nudist resort has been shown in-game by Rockstar Games. Word of one reached players via leaks that circulated online last month, and that early footage handed viewers just enough material to speculate about which real-world locations the studio may have drawn on for its version of Vice City.
The sequence, then: unverified leaked footage feeds fan guesswork, and fan guesswork buries an actual business under fake one-star ratings. Nothing confirms that Cypress Cove was ever on Rockstar’s reference board.
This brand of fan detective work has plenty of precedent. Arc Raiders players ran the same playbook back in January. The usual outcome is a pleasant windfall for the real location. Not this time.
Cleaned up, mostly
Google’s page now appears largely purged of the GTA 6 posts. A handful of the shadier entries survive with the owner’s reply attached, among them reviews riffing on the leaks — including one about a man who “pulled out his binoculars.”
A review posted yesterday simply dropped the pretense: “Will be trying to book a reservation on Nov. 19th. I will be playing GTA 6 for three days straight while nude in my RV. Shout out to Rockstar for showing me this gem of a place!”
The new Grand Theft Auto lands November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, capping a 13-year wait. That stretch has cultivated a fanbase that scrutinizes oxygen levels in search of reveal clues and mobilizes for Netflix announcements, so an organized review-bombing run at a Florida nudist resort tracks unfortunately well.
Fans have also pinpointed the spot they believe served as the model for Jason and Lucia's apartment. So far, that one has been left alone.
