Animoca Brands has officially announced a strategic partnership with Soneium, the Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs.
The partnership will focus on building Moca Network’s digital identity layer on Soneium and launching anime-themed campaigns led by San FranTokyo, aiming to attract anime fans to the Web3 space.
Building Web3 Identity on Soneium
As part of the collaboration, Animoca’s Moca Network will introduce a decentralized identity system known as Anime ID, developed in partnership with San FranTokyo. Anime ID is designed to give users a unique digital presence and reputation system within Soneium. This will allow for secure, verifiable interactions across decentralized applications (dApps) built on the network.
To support this, Moca Network’s Account, Identity, and Reputation SDK (AIR SDK) will be integrated into Soneium, enabling users to manage embedded accounts and credentials easily. Anime ID will be the first identity solution to adopt this SDK within Soneium, creating a foundation for trusted online interaction—especially within the anime and creative ecosystems.
Anime Campaigns to Attract Global FansAlongside the tech integration, anime-driven cultural campaigns will be launched on Soneium. These campaigns, spearheaded by San FranTokyo in collaboration with Animoca Brands, are aimed at engaging global anime fans and connecting them with Web3 experiences. The goal is to make the blockchain ecosystem more accessible and emotionally engaging for the anime community.
A Shared Vision for the Open Internet
Soneium, created by Sony Block Solutions Labs—a joint effort between Sony Group and Startale Group—is built on Optimism’s Superchain. It reflects Sony’s broader mission of blending creativity and technology to build meaningful digital experiences. With this partnership, Sony and Animoca hope to bridge entertainment, identity, and blockchain technology to create a seamless digital space.
