Extra Flame for Nightmare holders

The event was previewed in the team’s Lunacian Lounge recap, published Oct. 14 on The Lunacian. That recap stated that “for Halloween only, Nightmare Axies earn more Atia’s Flame.”

A plot’s bAXS earnings are determined by its Atia’s Flame. Once an hour, the Flame of each active plot is compared with that of every other active plot in the same environment, and each plot receives its share of that environment’s reward pool.

That means boosting Flame for a single Axie type shifts how rewards are divided across an entire environment. While the boost is active, plots loaded with Nightmare Axies would claim a bigger slice.

According to the recap, the team may start rotating boosts between Axie types if the Halloween boost works, so that each week plays differently. This was framed as a possibility rather than a firm commitment.

Hosted plots and a raised level cap

Hosted plots were also covered in the recap. These match landowners with players who own Axies but no land: the landowner opens a plot, the player brings their Axies, and the rewards are shared between them automatically.

Landowners are able to set requirements for hosted plots, including a minimum Atia’s Flame. As a result, collections with high Flame, Nightmare Axies among them, should have an advantage in securing spots during the event.

The team also laid out plans to lift the Axie level cap from 60 to 120. Advancing from level 60 to 70 is expected to require roughly the same effort as the whole climb from one to 60.

The road to the current Terrariums

Terrariums launched June 17 as the new land mode, taking over from Homeland. In it, players activate plots, assign Axies and collect bAXS every hour according to their Flame.

Within a few months, the mode has progressed from V1 to V1.3. Evolved part benefits arrived in July, followed by V1.1, which added accessories, land items and Fortune Slips to the Flame calculation. Each Axie can equip up to five accessories, and each plot can hold up to eight land items.

V1.2 was released Aug. 19, adding Multi-Collectible Parts benefits and a Terrariums Estate boost.

The rollout of the Halloween boost mirrors how V1.1 was announced: a teaser went out on X the day before, and the full details followed on Substack at 9 p.m. Philippine time.

About the Nightmare collection

Nightmare Axies originated in the Wings of Nightmare event in November 2024. Their supply is capped, with a maximum of 39,000 Nightmare Parts and 1,500 Nightmare Bodies ever.

Holders can also devolve Nightmare parts using Dark Flame, which means the number of Nightmare Axies in circulation can decline over time. Supply is capped for both regular and Shiny Nightmare parts.

An Axie holding Nightmare parts joins the Nightmare Collection, making it eligible for Fortune Slips. Even before any seasonal boost, Nightmare Axies were already earning more Flame than standard Axies.

Teasing the update, Axie Infinity wrote: “Your Nightmare collections are about to do even more on your land.”
