Blankos Block Party by Mythical Games is now available on the Epic Games store. According to the studio, the game already has more than one million players. The news was announced by Mythical Games back in June.

The game is launched on the Epic Games Store, making it the first ever NFT-powered game on the popular marketplace. Back in December 2020, the game launched as an open beta and was available on its own website.

The studio now claims that the game has been a great success and has a player base of more than a million. The race to launch the first-ever NFT game on Epic Games Store was first started by Gala Games when they announced that their NFT shooter Grit would be launched on the games store.

Seems like the race has been won by Mythical Games’ Blankos Block Party, as Grit is not yet available on the marketplace.

Blankos Block Party is an NFT-based online creation game where players can collaborate and create in an online world. The game is inspired by vinyl toy culture. All the unique characters and game assets represent an NFT that you can buy and sell in the game’s marketplace.

As the game finally launches, the team has collaborated with renowned artists and brands such as Atari, Deadmau5, and Burberry. The game is free-to-play, and you don’t even need an NFT to start playing.

This launch will introduce the game to a wide player base of Epic Games Store (over 194 million users) to the world of NFT and Web3 gaming. On the other hand, Steam banned developers from publishing games that featured NFTs or blockchain technology.

Tim Sweeney, CEO and Founder of Epic Games, stated that the studio wouldn’t use NFTs or Web3 technology. However, it will allow creators and developers to publish NFT games as long as they don’t break the marketplace’s laws.

“Epic Games Store will welcome games that make use of blockchain tech provided they follow the relevant laws, disclose their terms, and are age-rated by an appropriate group…Though Epic’s not using crypto in our games, we welcome innovation in the areas of technology and finance,”  tweeted Sweeney.

The game is still in an early access state – the full version is set to release on September 28th. Although Blankos Block Party is the first NFT game to join the Epic Games Store, there are also some other ones, waiting to hit the shelves of Epic Games Store such as: Grit & Superior!
