ChatGPT, the famous AI chatbot that everyone has heard of, announced yesterday, April 25, that users now have the power to switch off their chat history. This gives them control over which conversations can be used to improve the models. When chat history is turned off, those chats won’t be used to train the models, and they won’t show up in the history sidebar either. These settings can be found in ChatGPT and can be changed at any time. It’s believed to be way better than the old opt-out process!
When users turn off chat history, their new conversations will still be kept for 30 days. Those chats will only be reviewed if there’s a need to check for any abuse, and then they’ll be deleted for good.
But wait, there’s more! ChatGPT is working on a new Business subscription for professionals who need extra control over their data. It’s also perfect for companies that want to manage their end users. With ChatGPT Business, end users’ data won’t be used to train the models by default. Keep an eye out because it’s planned to roll out in the next few months.
And last but not least, there’s a new Export option in the settings. It makes it super easy for users to get all their ChatGPT data and see what info ChatGPT has on them. Just hit the button, and they’ll get an email with a file containing their conversations and all the other important stuff.
