Cloud9, one of the most popular names in esports, has announced a new partnership with Theta Network to launch an innovative AI-powered fan experience.

The collaboration centers on the development of Nimbus, a Cloud9-branded conversational AI chatbot designed to enhance how fans interact with teams and tournaments in real time.

Real-Time Interaction and Insights

Nimbus will be built using Theta Network’s decentralized GPU infrastructure, powered by more than 30,000 distributed GPU nodes through the Theta Edge Network. The chatbot will offer users live match updates, stats, and team insights in an intuitive and interactive way. Whether fans are on Discord or browsing the Cloud9 website, Nimbus will deliver instant access to game data, including real-time feeds from Riot Games’ APIs.

Cloud9’s CEO and Co-Founder Jack Etienne explained, “This partnership with Theta Network allows us to deliver something truly unique for our fans—an AI-powered experience that not only informs but engages.”

Tied to Club9 Loyalty Rewards

Nimbus will be integrated into Club9, Cloud9’s fan loyalty program. Fans will earn experience points (XP) by interacting with the chatbot, which can lead to unlocking rewards and exclusive content. This system aims to build a deeper bond between Cloud9 and its global fanbase while encouraging ongoing interaction.

The integration is designed to both enrich the fan journey and help Cloud9 gather valuable insights on how its community engages with content and matches. This data can help inform future strategies for deeper and more meaningful fan experiences.

Theta Labs Co-Founder and CEO Mitch Liu noted that esports fans are among the most engaged digital audiences in the world. He emphasized that the new AI will offer a level of interaction that matches their enthusiasm and analytical mindset. “With Cloud9’s new AI agent and our edge computing network, we’re delivering a product that respects fans’ passion for real-time updates and deep engagement,” he said.

Launch Coming in 2025

Nimbus is scheduled to launch in 2025 and will be available on multiple platforms, making it easier than ever for fans to stay connected with Cloud9’s activities. The project reflects both companies’ shared vision of innovation, community-driven experiences, and the future of esports technology.
