District X Leader Faces Accusations of Attempting to Sell Entire Decentraland District

Decentraland, a virtual world based on the Ethereum blockchain, is currently grappling with a conflict between District X leader RobL and a group of community members. District X, one of 90 districts within Decentraland, was initially established as an art-focused district. However, RobL is now being accused of trying to sell the entire district without consulting the contributors involved.

Community member Morph has proposed a poll to remove RobL as the district’s custodian, suggesting that land ownership shall be transferred to a multisig wallet controlled by a community-elected council. Morph’s proposal points out that RobL assumed the custodian role without consulting contributors and that the district has strayed from its original purpose, with little progress being made. Furthermore, Morph alleges that RobL’s attempt to sell the entire district has caused significant concern among community members.

In response to these accusations, RobL denies any wrongdoing and argues that selling districts is not illegal. Furthermore, he maintains that his voting power in the Decentraland DAO is sufficient to block the proposed poll. RobL also claims that both the Decentraland Foundation and the DAO know Morph’s proposals contain misinformation and are entirely false. Finally, he emphasizes that the Decentraland DAO has no control over OpenSea, a decentralized marketplace for non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The Decentraland Foundation, which is not directly involved in the situation, has not been asked by the community to participate in the proposal and has not taken a stance on the issue.
