E-Commerce Giant Alibaba Opens a Blockchain Lab in Japan to Support Web3 Game Developers

E-commerce giant Alibaba and, more precisely, its digital technology hub Alibaba Cloud announced earlier this week the upcoming launch of a Japanese blockchain lab in Shibuya this April.

Alibaba Cloud plans to help Janapese game developers explore additional business opportunities in the blockchain industry. In order to achieve such goals, Alibaba has partnered with Tokyu Land Corporation and VR content development company Skeleton Crew Studio. The lab’s launch is scheduled for April 2023.

As competition rises, this particular blockchain lab will be created to keep up with the competition in the Web3 industry. In addition, it will serve as an incubation center where game developers can engage with each other and share/learn about the newest blockchain technology products and info.

Unique Song, country manager of Alibaba Cloud Japan, shared his thoughts about the announcement, saying, “The strengths of content development and digital technology across industries, especially in the game field, opportunities are increasing in the active Web3 community in Japan. We provide robust, secure, and high-performance cloud infrastructure, technology platforms, and intelligence tools for Web3 developers in Japan, and customers and developers are unique in fields such as games, metaverse, and social media.

It is noteworthy to mention that Alibaba Cloud shared its thoughts on providing a blockchain node service in Japan by the end of 2023.
