Web3 game developer Foonie Magus has revealed details about its upcoming Apeiron Guild Wars 2024 tournament, which boasts a $1 million prize pool, making it the largest tournament organized by the company so far. This tournament marks the first of its kind by the team, with plans to make it an annual event for players.
Apeiron, a hybrid PC god game with roguelite elements and battle arenas, recently moved from Polygon to Sky Mavis’ Ronin network in December 2023.
The tournament will kick off with online preliminaries starting from 21st May to 25th June. During this time, guilds will compete for slots in the tournament on a special Guild PvP leaderboard, which will be active from 21st May to 2nd July. Following this, the SEA Invitational is scheduled between 11th-14th July and the NA Invitational between 18th-21st July.
The top 12 guilds from both regions will then be invited to the Apeiron Guild Wars 2024 in-person event, which is set to take place in Hong Kong during Q3 2024. Participants will engage in battles to secure a spot in the semifinals and finals through a double-elimination bracket tournament, with the top four seeded guilds advancing directly to the finals.
A total of $1 million will be up for grabs in the tournament, with the prize pool split between $500,000 USD and $500,000 worth of NFTs. The prizes will be awarded to the top-performing players based on their performance in the tournament.
Players from established guilds and members of the web3 community are encouraged to participate in the event, which aims to foster a competitive gaming scene and create a community-centric gaming ecosystem.
Foonie Magus CEO Frank Cheng expressed his excitement about the upcoming tournament, stating, “At Apeiron, we are not just building a game for casual play; we are fostering a competitive scene with tournaments tailored to all skill levels, aiming to create a strong, community-centric gaming ecosystem. Apeiron Guild Wars 2024 is our way of celebrating this commitment as we gear up toward the official game launch on Google Play and iOS.”
For those interested in experiencing a demo of Apeiron, it is currently available on the Epic Games Store.
