Frank Vora, widely known in the Web3 space as Frank DeGods, has officially stepped down as CEO of the DeGods NFT project. The announcement came through a personal statement on X, where Frank shared his decision to pass leadership to longtime team members @0x_chill and @pastagotsauce.
This marks a significant turning point for DeGods, one of the most recognized NFT collections in the ecosystem. Frank acknowledged the transition with a tone of closure, saying, “My chapter is closing, but the story isn’t over.” He also addressed past criticisms, reflecting that perhaps the heavy focus on his public persona may have been limiting the project’s potential.
A Shift in Leadership After a Controversial Run
Frank co-founded DeGods in 2021 and has been the driving force behind its creative direction. Known for unconventional decisions, like migrating the NFT collection between Solana, Ethereum, and even Bitcoin, Frank was often both praised and criticized for his leadership style. While his bold moves built a strong and loyal community, they also brought confusion and raised questions about the project’s consistency.
Earlier this year, Frank faced backlash over allegations related to insider trading, which he denied. He deactivated his public wallet and went quiet until this latest announcement. In his statement, he emphasized that he is not under investigation and has never committed illegal acts.
Who Takes Over Now?
The reins of the project are now in the hands of @0x_chill and @pastagotsauce—two pseudonymous yet trusted members of the internal DeGods team. While their identities remain unknown, both have been deeply involved in the project’s operations and culture. They will now share the CEO role, leading DeGods into its next phase.
In a Discord update, Pasta hinted at major changes. The team plans to first honor the community’s three-year journey before steering the project in a new direction. “DeGods was at its best when it was chaotic, creative, and fun,” he said. “Now our job is to make it as big as it can possibly be.”
