Immutable, the company behind popular blockchain games TCG Gods Unchained and squad RPG Guild of Guardians, has announced that on April 23rd, the two games will launch an IP crossover card expansion pack called Dread Awakening. This pack, consisting of 148 cards, marks the first major expansion for Gods Unchained’s second season. It introduces new game mechanics and cards that are set to shake up the meta.
In addition to this expansion, Guild of Guardians is also gearing up for a global launch on app stores on May 15th. This announcement has generated a lot of buzz among fans of both games.
“This was a really fun expansion for us to work on because we’ve been able to lean into the creativity and lore of Guild of Guardians, while working really closely and collaboratively with a team that is quite literally sitting right next to me,” said Gods Unchained Executive Producer, Daniel Paez, in a release.
The expansion’s “cosmic horror” theme “introduces new mechanics and cards that will reshape the meta and hint to a bigger world than ever imagined,” the announcement added. “What makes this even more exciting for me is the anticipation of things to come from this collaboration,” added Paez. “IP crossovers are just the tip of the potential we can unleash with web3 gaming—true game interoperability is right around the corner.”
