This new feature represents the next generation of web3 wallets, combining familiar log-in methods with enhanced web3 capabilities like digital asset management. Immutable Passport is essentially a universal gamer profile, offering a secure identity that grants access to all games and marketplaces powered by Immutable.
This means players can seamlessly move between games, carrying their assets, funds, and achievements with them. Initially, Gods Unchained players will experience improved account and authentication functionality, with wallet integration planned for a future update. The benefits of signing in with Immutable Passport include a simplified login process without passwords or reCAPTCHA, making it easier for new users to create accounts using Google, Apple, or email.
This streamlined approach aims to enhance the user experience, reducing the friction typically associated with confirmations and wallet creation. Changes to the login system are focused on ease of use. Players will now log in using their associated email, receiving a one-time password for verification. This change is strictly related to the login process and does not affect in-game data or player collections.
The migration to this new system will be handled on the backend, requiring minimal effort from users. To celebrate the launch of Immutable Passport within the Gods Unchained ecosystem, early adopters will be rewarded with an exclusive Passport Cardback, available to users who log in during the first week of the migration.
Players who prefer not to migrate to Immutable Passport have until November 30, 2023, to opt out and delete their existing accounts. After the implementation of Immutable Passport, the previous login system will be discontinued, making game access through the old system impossible.
