GUNZ Retakes Its Compromised Discord Server, Tells Community to Steer Clear of Links for Now

gunz retakes its compromised discord server tells community to steer clear of links for now In Brief:

In Brief:

  • GUNZ reported that its Discord server had been compromised and warned users against engaging with any announcements, links or DMs coming from it.
  • The team later confirmed it had regained control of the server, but it is still telling users not to click links there while possible phishing links are removed.
  • For the time being, the team said its X account @GUNbyGUNZ is the only official source of updates.

GUNZ has regained control of its Discord server following a compromise. Even so, the team is telling community members to keep away from any links posted in the server until it finishes cleaning out potential phishing content.

In a post on X, the team wrote: “We’ve reclaimed the GUNZ Discord ✅” It went on: “Until further notice, please don’t click any links in the server while we clear out any possible phishing links.”

The same account had posted an earlier alert telling users the server had been compromised. This update followed it.

Wallet warning

The first post told the community not to connect wallets or approve transactions through anything shared in the server.

“Our Discord has been compromised,” GUNZ wrote. “Do not engage with any announcements, links or DMs coming from it until we confirm it’s secure.”

The post added: “Do not connect your wallet or sign anything from a Discord link. Official updates will come from this account ONLY.”

GUNZ has not explained how the attackers got access or how long they controlled the server. It also hasn’t said whether any users clicked malicious links or lost funds. The team gave no timeline for when links in the server will be safe to use again.

X is the official channel

During the cleanup, the team has named its X account, @GUNbyGUNZ, as the only source of official information. The second post said: “Official updates will keep coming from this account.”

As a result, the project’s main community hub is effectively restricted. Members can still be in the server, but the team is asking them not to click anything posted there.

Timing

The breach comes during a busy month for the project. Gunzilla Games has said Off The Grid will reach full release in October 2026. That will be two years after the shooter entered early access on Oct. 8, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

In an earlier post, the GUNZ account said: “October 2026, Off The Grid hits full release and the on-chain economy scales with it.” Gunzilla has not confirmed an exact launch day.

The studio's roadmap covers June to October 2026. It starts with performance and weapon balance work, then moves on to Legendary Weapons, Marketplace 2.0 and proximity voice chat.

Background

GUNZ is Gunzilla’s Layer 1 and is built as an Avalanche subnet. It handles the item economy for Off The Grid and for the mobile game Technocore.

The GUN token launched on Binance on March 31, 2025. It had a total supply of 10 billion, with 604.5 million in circulation at launch. GUN is used for marketplace payments, network gas, staking through NFT validators and governance. In July 2025, GUNZ brought the token to Solana.

According to the project, 30% of monthly revenue goes to GUN buybacks. Full marketplace access requires an OTG Pro subscription, which costs $12 a month.

On its first day of trading, GUN peaked near $0.115. By February 2026, it had fallen to about $0.027.

For now, the team’s advice to users hasn’t changed since its first post: “Do not connect your wallet or sign anything from a Discord link.”
