In Brief
- Pixiland has confirmed it will stop all Web3 development and move fully to an offchain Web2 model.
- Token plans and crypto payments have been canceled, with balances converted into in game currency.
- The game will stay online with limited support focused on stability rather than new content.
Pixiland has announced a major operational change, confirming that its Web3 features are being paused indefinitely as the project transitions to a fully Web2 structure. The update follows nearly two years of development and live operation by a small independent team working with limited resources.
The team explained that prolonged market instability, rising regulatory pressure, and increasing compliance demands made it difficult to maintain a sustainable Web3 model. Rather than shutting the game down entirely, Pixiland opted to remove blockchain components in order to keep the game running in a more predictable and manageable way.
End of Token Plans and Crypto Payments
As part of the transition, Pixiland will no longer pursue a token launch. There will be no token generation event and no listing plans. All cryptocurrency based purchases and payment gateways have been disabled, and no new blockchain features will be introduced.
Existing wPixi balances will be automatically converted into GEM, the game’s existing in game currency, at a fixed ten to one ratio. GEM is not withdrawable, has no real world value, and cannot be exchanged for any token. It will function solely inside the Web2 version of the game.
NFTs and Player Assets
Pixiland confirmed that it does not custody player NFTs. Users are able to withdraw their NFTs back to their own wallets. A one time claim process will be introduced to generate a one to one offchain version of each NFT inside the game, allowing players to retain utility without onchain interactions.
After this process, NFT minting, deposits, and mapping features will no longer be available.
Timeline for the Transition
The Web3 pause took effect immediately with the announcement. The in game shop and all crypto top ups have been disabled, Web3 development has stopped, and neighborhood features have been turned off. Any pending rewards from these systems are being credited directly to player balances. Land related mechanics now rely entirely on GEM.
By early February, Pixiland will be fully updated to its Web2 version, the one time NFT claim will go live, and all wPixi balances will be converted into GEM. By early March, the dashboard service will be shut down, ending access to tools used for managing NFTs and token balances.
What Comes Next for Pixiland
Pixiland will continue operating as a Web2 only game. The team said its priority during this phase will be maintaining server stability and addressing critical issues when necessary. Due to constrained resources, no major new features or content expansions are planned.
In closing, the Pixiland team thanked its players and community for their long standing support and patience. While acknowledging that the shift may be disappointing for some, the team expressed hope that the game can continue to offer an enjoyable experience under its new structure.
