MapleStory Universe has confirmed the removal of 20,000 accounts from its PC version, MapleStory N, between August 21 and 25, 2025.
The accounts were banned for using macros, programs that automate repetitive actions to collect rewards unfairly.
Why the Accounts Were Removed
The latest ban targeted players who relied on automation to progress faster than others. By cutting down on these activities, MapleStory Universe aims to reduce unfair farming and exploitation. Developers explained that players who try to bypass normal mechanics disrupt the in-game economy and diminish the experience for regular players.
The Role of the Credit Level System
To support fairness, MapleStory Universe introduced a Credit Level System that rewards players who engage through standard gameplay. This system has made it more difficult for banned players to return and attempt the same tactics. Honest participants benefit from improved recognition, while dishonest behavior is flagged more easily.
Additional Security Steps
Even with these bans, the company recognizes that threats remain. Hackers and exploiters continue to search for weaknesses. To address this, the platform plans to roll out stricter systems, such as advanced lie-detection technology, more frequent monitoring, and tougher verification methods that block proxy access.
User Numbers and Market Activity Stay Strong
Despite heavy enforcement, user engagement has remained stable. The platform reports around 70,000 daily active wallet users and 500,000 monthly active wallet users. Daily new wallet sign-ups are steady at 6,000, a drop from the June peak of 70,000 but still showing solid interest.
Trading within the game also remains strong, with in-game items and characters generating around 650 billion NESO in daily volume, equal to about 4.5 million USD.
Ongoing Mission for a Fair Ecosystem
By combining account bans with security improvements, MapleStory Universe is taking a clear stand against cheating. The company’s focus is on protecting players who choose fair play while maintaining a stable in-game marketplace. These actions highlight its effort to build a long-term web3 gaming economy where honest players can thrive.
