The spotlight belongs to Rayquaza. The Pokémon Company has officially unveiled Mega Evolution — Delta Reign, the next Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion, and it has given fans’ most-requested dragon a place on several new cards, the Elite Trainer Box, card sleeves and booster packs.
Plenty is already nailed down: a release date, a prerelease window, a first look at some cards and the full product list.
Delta Reign arrives November 6, 2026. It follows the Pitch Black set and the 30th Celebration cards that landed in mid-September, making it the second Mega Evolution set and the year’s closing expansion.
Prerelease starts before Halloween
Prerelease events kick off October 24, 2026. That’s when Build & Battle Boxes become available, each containing one of four unique promo cards. Distribution runs through local hobby shops, so ring ahead instead of turning up and hoping.
Preorders have already appeared on secondary auction sites, though the privilege carries a markup. Hold off if you’re able to.
Where the real preorders will land
Preorders on the official Pokémon Center online storefront are expected to open at some point in September, most likely once the 30th Celebration cards arrive next week. Several big retailers, Best Buy among them, already have listings visible, but there’s still no way to actually purchase the Elite Trainer Box — and that differs from location to location.
The standard Elite Trainer Box carries a $49.99 price tag.
The cards we’ve seen so far
A first batch of Delta Reign cards has gone up on the official Pokémon website, Mega Golurk ex included. Additional Mega ex cards feature as well, alongside the “Legendary Summit” Trainer and Stadium pairing.
So far the numbering shown tops out at 103, yet the Pokémon Company says Delta Reign will contain “over 135” cards. Within that are 20 Trainer cards plus more than 35 Pokémon and Trainers carrying special illustration artwork — add it up and the total comes to 138 cards.
What’s in the Elite Trainer Box
Delta Reign sticks to the usual expansion template: booster boxes, Build & Battle boxes and the Elite Trainer Box. And, predictably, the ETB is the product most collectors will be hunting.
Inside you get 8 booster packs, 65 card sleeves, dice, card dividers, Energy cards and a plastic coin.
This time the promo is a full-art illustrated rare of Kyogre, its artwork depicting the Legendary Gen 3 Pokémon riding a huge, cascading wave.
Don’t wait until November
Two months of runway might sound like breathing room. Judging by how 2026 has gone, it isn’t — nearly every expansion this year has vanished quickly on its initial drop.
Turn on your preorder alerts, track restocks, and keep watching the Pokémon Center storefront through September. That Kyogre wave card won’t be sitting on a shelf waiting for you.
