moriusa lays out why it chose soneium ahead of mofees nft bridge In Brief:

In Brief:

  • Moriusa, the Japanese character IP from Super State Holdings, used a post on X to explain its move to Soneium and put its Mofees collection at the center of the change.
  • Under the Tokenized IP model Soneium announced Oct. 26, Moriusa became the first IP Token on Soneium. The same announcement included plans for a $SONEIUM ecosystem token.
  • An NFT bridge is listed on Moriusa’s Soneium Portal page, which also tells visitors to stay tuned for an announcement on Thursday, Nov. 5.

Moriusa has explained why it moved to Soneium. According to the Japanese character brand, its plans match the network’s effort to build entertainment around tokenized IP.

“Moriusa is a beloved Japanese IP growing across Web2 and Web3, with Mofees at the heart of that journey,” the Moriusa account wrote on X.

@moriusa_STPR, a real IP with fans around the world is building out their future on Soneium.
That's how an onchain entertainment story starts taking shape.

“Soneium is building an onchain entertainment ecosystem around tokenized IP, creators, and fans,” the post continued. “That vision aligns with ours of”

Soneium’s official account responded quickly with support. “@moriusa_STPR, a real IP with fans around the world is building out their future on Soneium,” it wrote. “That’s how an onchain entertainment story starts taking shape.”

A bridge is up, details come Thursday

On the Soneium Portal, the Moriusa collection page points to an NFT bridge at bridge.yay.space/moriusa. It gives no information on which chain the NFTs are leaving or how the transfer will work.

What the page does say is “Stay tuned for an announcement on Thursday, November 5.” As of Nov. 4, nothing more about the migration had been published.

The portal calls the Mofees a group of Moriusas together, each one appearing with its own mood, moment and outfit. “Moriusa and the Mofees are now hopping onto the blockchain,” the page said.

Soneium’s first IP Token

Moriusa was named Soneium’s first IP Token on Oct. 26. In that announcement, the Ethereum layer 2 also committed to a Tokenized IP model and disclosed plans for a native $SONEIUM token.

Soneium called Moriusa “a popular character IP from Super State Holdings, the Tokyo-based entertainment group.” According to the network, fans and supporters can help push the IP into physical merchandise, animated short series and wider licensing.

The framework allows IP Tokens to be either fungible or collectible. Soneium also listed IP Vaults, which provide “access to royalty backed assets,” along with Tokenized IP Bonds backed by entertainment businesses.

Three components support the model. An IP Registry keeps ownership records. An IP Graph tracks how original and derivative works relate to each other. Finally, an Execution Layer uses smart contracts to automate “royalties, revenue splits and licensing payments.”

Soneium has other partners too. It is working with DayOneDream, the K-pop IP holder that manages artists including BTOB and LEE CHAE YEON, to put “concert business royalties” onchain as Tokenized IP Bonds.

The token hasn’t launched

Soneium said the $SONEIUM token is meant to “align creators, IP owners, builders, fans and investors with the growth of the Soneium economy.” It also stated that “no $SONEIUM token has been issued,” with details “to be announced at a later date.”

No launch date or tokenomics have been shared. The network’s announcement noted that it describes “Soneium’s vision and plans, which may change.”

Sony Block Solutions Labs and Startale co-developed Soneium, which runs on the OP Stack.

Built on a Web2 audience

Moriusa is a purple rabbit created by Nanamori (ななもり。) and produced by Super State Holdings. Before it came onchain, the character had already built a following on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and X.

The Soneium Portal points to a sold-out Tokyo Dome event as part of that record.

When the network announced its pivot, Yuji Kumagai, head of Soneium Protocol, said: “Entertainment starts with creators. Today, Soneium enters a new stage built to stand behind them.”
