NBA Top Shot (official site) is opening the 2026-27 season with a new pack format. Tip-Off Packs give collectors an early shot at the year’s first Moments, minted from players’ first games. The packs run from Opening Night through the Rookie Debut drop on Wednesday, November 11.
A Tip-Off Pack costs $10, contains 3 Moments and is available for a single day. If a featured player stands out in their first game, the first few copies of that Moment are placed in that day’s pack before anyone else can get them. Every pack also carries Moments of the featured players and of earlier rookie classes. Last season’s Base Set fills the final slot, because minting for this season’s Base Set hasn’t begun. When it does, it replaces that slot and the packs fill with new 2026-27 Moments.
Packs get only a small share of each new Moment’s edition. The bulk of the mint, plus every parallel, is reserved for the Rookie Debut drop. That makes a Tip-Off Pack the only way to own one of these Moments first.
Opening Night: the Jersey Swap pack
First up is the Jersey Swap: Opening Night Fresh Threads Pack, built around three of the offseason’s biggest jersey changes. Paul George made his Boston Celtics debut on Tuesday at 3:00 PM ET in Detroit. LeBron James and Jaylen Brown first suited up for the Philadelphia 76ers at 7:00 PM ET, facing the Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
Each of the three gets a new Fresh Threads 2026-27 Moment from that night, minted at 99, and this pack holds just 5 of each. The rest of the /99 arrive in the Rookie Debut drop, together with the Hexwave /25 and Jukebox /10 parallels.
Older Moments of the trio are in the pack too:
- a Paul George Holo Icon /99
- Jaylen Brown Hexwave /25s and a Jukebox /10
- a LeBron James So Fresh /250
- a LeBron James Run It Back: Origins Blockchain /99
How pre-orders work
Opening week’s Tip-Off Packs are sold as pre-orders. According to NBA Top Shot, this is the fastest opening-week Moments have ever reached collections. Pre-orders for the Opening Night pack opened at 7:00 PM ET, as the Sixers tipped off, and remain open for 24 hours, closing at 7:00 PM ET on Wednesday. Placing an order is the same as buying any other pack. One order equals one pack, and the cap is 250 orders.
Once pre-orders close and the trade-in auction winners have received their packs, what’s left is divided between two draws:
- Draw 1: half of the remaining packs go to collectors chosen at random, one pack per person. Order count has no effect here, so a single order has the same chance as 250. Anyone who wins drops out of this draw. If packs outnumber collectors, the surplus rolls into the second draw.
- Draw 2: the other half is drawn with every order that hasn’t won counting as one ticket, so placing more orders improves the odds. First-draw winners stay eligible through their other orders.
All packs are delivered when the pre-order closes. Starting next week, Tip-Off Packs move to first come, first served until the Rookie Debut drop.
Trade-in auctions
Every Tip-Off Pack comes with its own trade-in auction, which opens alongside the pack. Bids consist of Moments you trade in and are ranked by the combined average sale price of those Moments. The 25 highest bidders win 2 of that day’s packs each.
For Opening Night, bids can include any LeBron James, Jaylen Brown or Paul George Moment. Bidding ends Wednesday, October 21 at 2:30 PM ET, and winners get their packs alongside everyone else when the pre-order closes at 7:00 PM ET. After Opening Night, the auctions take any NBA Rookie Debut Moment from any series. If a rookie shares a pack with other players, those players’ Moments also count.
The 2026 rookies are up next
All Tip-Off Packs after Opening Night center on the 2026 rookie class. When a featured rookie stands out in a first game, the first few copies of that Moment go into a Tip-Off Pack. On some days a rookie shares a pack with other stars, whose first Moments of the season come from those games. The format doesn’t change: $10, 3 Moments, a chance at new Moments from the game, Moments of past rookie classes and a trade-in auction.
Rookie Debut drop on November 11
The packs build toward the Rookie Debut drop on Wednesday, November 11, which adds the 2026 rookie class to NBA Top Shot. That’s where the full mints and parallels arrive across Rookie Debut, Season Tip-Off and Fresh Threads, plus Rookie Ultimate 1/1s. Rookies who are partnered Top Shot Athletes provide signed Rookie Debut Galactic /5s, and any partnered Top Shot Athlete in Season Tip-Off or Fresh Threads signs their Jukebox /10s as well.
The drop comes as a Case, a Box and a new Collector Pack. Early access starts Thursday, November 5, with public pre-orders opening Tuesday, November 10.
It also kicks off the Season Tip-Off set challenge. Collectors who collect and lock a Moment of every player in Season Tip-Off 2026-27 receive an exclusive Moment of Jalen Brunson and the Knicks raising their first championship banner in 53 years, on Opening Night at the Garden.
